The Georgetown–Scott County Planning Commission invites the community to attend the “Stamping Ground New Ground(s)” Community Forum on Thursday, May 28 at 6:30 PM EDT at Stamping Ground Elementary School.
This meeting is an opportunity for residents, property owners, and community members to learn more about the ongoing zoning update discussions and share ideas about the future of Stamping Ground. The conversation will focus on growth, development opportunities, preserving community character, and understanding what future zoning districts could look like within the city.
The forum is one step in an ongoing planning process that includes community discussions, ordinance drafting, and future public hearings. Community input gathered during these meetings will help guide the direction of the project moving forward.

🚨 SEVERE WEATHER BULLETIN – MULTIPLE ROUNDS EXPECTED 🚨
The National Weather Service in Louisville is forecasting multiple rounds of strong to severe storms impacting our area beginning tonight and continuing through Tuesday overnight.
⏰ ROUND 1: TONIGHT (MONDAY)
Timing: ~11 PM through early Tuesday morning
Main Threats:
🌪 A tornado or 2 will be more likely west of I-65, but still stay aware just in case.
💨 Damaging winds
🧊 Hail
Key Concern: This will be a nighttime event, which increases danger while people are asleep
👉 Greatest risk for the strongest storms will be along and WEST OF I-65, but impacts ARE POSSIBLE across the region
⏰ ROUND 2: TUESDAY EVENING – OVERNIGHT
Timing: Tuesday into early Wednesday
Main Threats:
💨 Damaging winds
🧊 Large hail (some areas could see 2”+ hail)
🌧 ADDITIONAL IMPACTS
Heavy Rainfall: 1.5–3 inches expected, with localized higher amounts
Possible minor flooding / ponding on roadways
✔ Enable Wireless Emergency Alerts on your phone
✔ Have multiple ways to receive warnings overnight (NOAA Weather Radio, phone alerts, etc.)
✔ Identify your safe place in your home (lowest level, interior room)
✔ Keep shoes, flashlight, and phone nearby while sleeping
Our crews are monitoring conditions closely and are ready to respond if needed. Please stay weather aware and take this system seriously—especially overnight when storms are harder to detect.
