Scam alert for our clients

Some of our clients are getting an email that looks like it's from me. It comes from [email protected], is signed "Mark Abrams," and asks for $450 for website renewals, themes and plugins. It even offers to send a payment link.

That email is not from us!!!
Please don't reply, click anything or pay.

Real emails from us always come from an .com, .com OR .com address, and renewals come on our normal invoice.

If you're ever unsure, call me at 979-217-1544.

If you got this email, please mark it as spam or phishing and delete it. And thanks to the client who sent it our way this morning!

Where Does AI Get Its Information About My Business?

We killed a service name last summer. The Signature Package.

The AI's kept selling it for MONTHS.

Why? Some third-party website still had it, and our own website was not specific enough to argue with it!

An AI is not just reading your website. It is reading directories, old profiles, and whatever somebody wrote about you back in 2019.

Do the search, find that old stuff and get rid of it. Then make sure your site is specific enough so it wins the fight over the third party website.

Most website designers will not put prices on their website. You get "contact us for a quote."

We went the other way years ago. Our numbers are right there on the page.

It works. People who call already know what things cost, so we skip the awkward part and get to the actual conversation.

But there is a side effect I did not see coming.

I asked ChatGPT who the best website design company is around Bryan and College Station. It listed five of us and sorted everybody by what they are best for. Professional services. Local small business. Branding. SEO and marketing.

Then us. Affordable custom websites.

Four companies got sorted by the work they do. We got sorted by what we charge. Because we were the only ones who published a number, and a number is the easiest thing in the world for a machine to compare.

The prices are staying. But they are about to stop being the clearest thing on our site.

We finally answered the question everyone asks... with actual numbers.

No vague "it depends." No surprise fees. Just a straightforward look at what drives website pricing and why we publish ours for everyone to see.
