Young male Ladder-backed Woodpecker - I'll call him "little dude". Photos taken on May 3rd. He was so sweet to watch.

The resident neighborhood hawk, I'll call it "Red", visited our yard, and a neighboring yard, yesterday. I believe it is a young Red-shouldered Hawk.

This hawk was on the hunt and all the beautiful songbirds went silent. The trees became very quiet.

Red landed in a sunny spot, but later moved to the shade. It was close to dusk by the time it flew away.

I was excited to capture some photographs, and from close proximity.

I've spent time taking photographs of birds over the past few months.

This post includes both male and female cardinals, an adult and also a young male ladder-backed woodpecker, a young female ladder-backed woodpecker, as well as a few nature shots of budding oak trees ready to burst with pollen and a contrail from an airplane that happened to fly overhead on one of these glorious days!

A bold and beautiful sight to behold!

Andy spotted our neighborhood resident Red-shouldered Hawk this morning. I was extremely lucky that he stayed perched in place long enough for me to grab the camera.

Last week, he perched in our backyard briefly, right on top of the head of St. Francis.😆 I was able to get relatively close and got pictures with my cell phone. A few of those are attached as well.

It was a fun time and weather perfect night in the park!

These photos were taken last week in San Gabriel Park at "a movie night in the park", which was organized by the Georgetown Parks and Recreation Department and GTX FILM and Fiber First showed up to lend their support.

The Christmas movie shown was delightful - "A Christmas in New Hope," filmed in Waco, TX by Austin-based Julia Barnett and Mindy Raymond.

Andy and I had a delightful day at the 2025 Georgetown Christmas Stroll!

The Courthouse Square and downtown Georgetown is decorated beautifully. To quote the famous song, sung by both Perry Como and Bing Crosby, “It’s Beginning to Look A Lot Like Christmas!”

We strolled through the crowd of families and children; looked at all the wares that vendors had for sale; and listened to music.

I spent time testing out the mirrorless Canon camera that I purchased recently. The camera is a powerhouse, and no thanks to me, captured beautiful pictures!

A wonderful time was had by all who attended the first post festival GTX FILM wrap party!

We are looking forward to a GREAT year ahead in preparation of the 2026 GTX FILM festival that will be held on Saturday, September 26, 2026! Get ready and mark your calendars now!

Today was a beautiful day outside, warm and calm (no wind). However, a cold front and moderate wind is expected to arrive early tomorrow morning.

Seeing that the birds were abuzz...
I picked up my camera and decided to snap some photos before the weather change.

I was fortunate to get photos of a beautiful Robin, a young female Ladder-Backed Woodpecker, a House Sparrow and a few Lesser Gold Finches. And, I also snapped photos of one squirrel🐿and one very out of focus butterfly, which I believe is a Monarch!😏 I didn’t have the right lens for photographing a butterfly and so used what I had available in that moment. I'm wondering if this beautiful butterfly will make it through the night with the cooler temps and wind. I'm hopeful. I'll look for her tomorrow.

This year's GTX FILM Festival was a WOW event! We had a full house and it was so much fun!! Here are some of the highlights from this year's festival.

I'm very thankful to fellow photographer, Kamil Rizvi, who took many AMAZING photos which will be shared soon on the GTX Film website and social media pages. Kamil also took a few photos of me, which I love. I will share them in a separate post shortly.

Today was a beautiful day! And, the birds were extremely active, especially the hummers, who were busy defending their food sources. I saw at least four young males who zoomed around protecting their territory. I hope you enjoy the pictures and have a wonderful week!
