We are heart broken with what is going on at Christina Park and in times like these we often feel so helpless but also even more eager to do more. Our mats are not the answer but they sure are appreciated and wanted by so many. The Bags2Mats team went out on the last day residents could be in the park. Many were getting situated with very temporary housing which may only last a few weeks and then they will be back on the streets. When you are homeless you don’t take what you can’t carry and you must prioritize. Mats could not be distributed fast enough. Something so simple. Someone’s trash. But also, someone’s love and volunteer time.

As the need continues to grow, so does the need for community support and volunteers. Please consider joining us tomorrow in New Castle, to help us sort soft plastics so we can be in a better position to make more mats. Please see flyer for details.

We are so excited for our friends at Real Life Independence as they begin their new chapter of hosting their own regular Bags2Mats workshops at their location. The participants that have been volunteering with us over several months will now LEAD the workshops and teach others how to make mats. We could not be happier to see our friends succeed!!!

THANK YOU Christ Church Christiana Hundred!!!
We have plastic galore!

Our friends collected almost 100 pounds of plastic material to benefit the Bags2Mats for the Homeless - Delaware. We will be using all the material we can but whatever we cannot will go to our friends at Eco Plastic Products of Delaware who will transform the discarded plastic into purposeful products. This just shows what an impact we can make when we come together!! Thank you Ms. Janet for taking the lead in coordinating these efforts!
