That's a wrap! What an amazing week of seeing YMCA of Coastal Carolina teach kids to swim in the mobile pool at the Andrews Regional Recreation Center. And we still have 3 weeks of lessons to go! Next week's sessions in Andrews have a waiting list, but there are spots left for the weeks of June 15 and June 22 at the Northwest Regional Recreation Center in Choppee. Lessons are free and open to ages 3-15. Sign up by the Friday before the session starts. Don't forget to mark your calendars for these epic events coming up as we party like it's 1776 and celebrate Carolina Days and our nation's 250th birthday bash! 🎉

The Atlantic hurricane season officially begins today! Throughout May, we shared 31 days of hurricane readiness tips to empower families, neighborhoods, and businesses. However, preparedness is a year-round commitment!

We have another valuable preparedness opportunity. As we head into the 2026 season, we’re inviting local employers, industries, and community partners to join us for our 2026 Georgetown County Hurricane Season Business & Industry Prep Day on Wednesday, June 24, 2026, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM at the Georgetown County Emergency Operations Center.

This event aims to help organizations strengthen their hurricane plans, learn about key state, local, and nonprofit resources, connect with other business partners, and hear insights from partners like NWS Wilmington, SC Commerce, Black River United Way / Winyah Bay COAD, Georgetown County Economic Development, and Georgetown County Emergency Services. Come celebrate National Trails Day with the GOAT Herd this Saturday!

Photos from this evening’s fantastic unveiling ceremony for “Whispers of My Ancestor” by Wesley Wofford Sculpture Studio. The life-size statue of James Bowley and Harriet Tubman has been permanently installed at the Georgetown Library. Stop by and see it during regular library hours. Thanks to the Friends of the Georgetown Library for all their work in getting the statue and organizing the unveiling ceremony!

We are excited to partner with our local Black River State Park Rangers!!! They will be doing a special Storytime with us in June and July with the hope of doing more through the year. Please join us by registering and attending!!
