Nathaniel's Custom Hats

I don’t have time to build a lot of stock hats nowadays, but I had to take a little break and block up this straw “Lizard Head” for fun. This hat is 7 3/8 and is ready for its owner to come along. Kerrie and I will be in the shop from 10-3 tomorrow for Second Saturday Market Day.

We built this fawn color, wide brim “Explorer” awhile back. We freshened it up with a new sweatband. Kerrie built the hat band for it.

We just finished this Turquoise hat. I love this old school style with the squared off brim. I refer to this as the “Rimrock.” graciously modeled it before we ship it out.

This is a new version of Silverbelly that we are trying. It’s a little lighter color than our current version. It’s a 7 3/8 sloping crown Cattleman and has a 4 1/4” squared off brim. We like how it came out.

We’ve needed a Hesperus Trail or Gus style hat on our stock rack for awhile. This is a custom-shaped Twister hat in acorn color with a leather braided band, size 7 3/8.

I’ve been building this front pinch crease on a tapered Carlsbad block for over 30 years now. I believe when you build something to last, it needs to be classic and timeless. Fashion can be fickle; but if you stick to the basics, you’ll always be in style. Arrow made this sahara colored “Peaks” look good.

A couple of our creations. A smaller “Classic Gus” we built a few years back, and a narrow brick top “Cattleman” we just finished. It’s in silverbelly, a size 7 3/8 and is for sale on our stock rack. We’re taking off tomorrow and Monday, we’ll be back at it in Tuesday. Have a good rest of your weekend everyone.

My son Ezra is helping me build hats today. Maybe someday we’ll be Nathaniel and Sons. He and Arrow are very good at it!

It’s always fun when a customer wants a vintage inspired hat. This is a reverse sloping Cattleman in Sahara color. The feather band gives it a cool “Urban Cowboy” vibe.
