BE AWARE!!
The Town of Georgetown has recently received reports from current or previous Applicants who have been contacted via email by someone fraudulently claiming to be representing the Town, the Planning Commission, or the Community Development Department requesting payment for the receipt or review of development applications or other Town services.
The emails and PDF invoices used by the scammers appear relatively sophisticated, using the Town seal and referencing accurate project descriptions that are freely available on Town meeting agendas and website. However, payment is requested via wire transfer and uses an email address that is not an official Georgetown email domain.
Please note that the Town of Georgetown will never request payment for any services whatsoever via wire transfer. The Town does not accept wire transfers for payments of any kind. Invoices will be itemized for specific costs incurred and generally are mailed via USPS, with invoices emailed occasionally upon request or in response to other email correspondence. If you have a question about an invoice, do not hesitate to call the Town Offices at 302-856-7391.
If you have any other questions or believe you may have received any requests of this nature, please contact the Georgetown Police Department at 302-856-6613, attention: Lt. Barlow.

Monuments Honoring Chief Harvey A. Gregg Jr. EOW 4/4/98 and Patrolman Chad E. Spicer EOW 91/09 Return to Their Rightful Place on The Circle
GEORGETOWN, DELAWARE — The Georgetown Police Department is proud to announce the return of the monuments honoring Chief Harvey Gregg and Patrolman Chad Spicer to their rightful place on The Circle in Georgetown.
Their return marks the conclusion of a long-awaited and carefully undertaken process following motor vehicle crashes that struck and damaged the monuments. Since those incidents, significant care and consideration have gone into ensuring the monuments could be properly restored and returned in a manner that honors the officers they represent while helping protect these memorials from future harm.
The return of these monuments to The Circle carries profound meaning for the families of Chief Gregg and Patrolman Spicer, the Town of Georgetown, the Georgetown Police Department, and the community as a whole.
For the men and women who wear the Georgetown Police Department uniform today, these monuments are more than memorials. They are enduring reminders of those who served before them, the sacrifices that come with wearing the badge, and the responsibility each officer carries when putting on the uniform.
They remind us to wear the uniform with honor, serve with courage, and never forget the sacrifices of Chief Harvey Gregg and Patrolman Chad Spicer.
The Georgetown Police Department extends its sincere appreciation to everyone who played a pivotal role throughout the restoration and return of these monuments. This process required patience, cooperation, dedication, and a shared commitment to preserving the legacies of two officers whose service remains an important part of Georgetown's history.
Your service, dedication, and commitment did not go unnoticed, and we thank you for helping return these memorials to the place where they belong.
We encourage residents and visitors alike, when traveling through Georgetown, to take a moment to visit the monuments on The Circle. Pause, reflect, and learn a little about Chief Harvey Gregg and Patrolman Chad Spicer—their service, their sacrifice, and the legacy they left behind.
Their monuments have returned home.
May their service never be forgotten, and may their legacy live on forever.
