Due to staff shortages for spring break, and super nice weather, the office will be closing today at noon 4/10 for some team building exercises….since we made it to Friday with just Dr. Richardson this week! We will be back promptly at 8a Monday 😀

Snowmageddon 2026. We are going to close the office tomorrow, Monday, 1/26/2026. Dr. R plowed the parking lot twice, but just as he was finishing, we got a good dose of freezing rain AND more snow. With the plummeting temps, it’s best for everyone to stay home and stay warm. If you had an appointment, you will get a call today or tomorrow to reschedule!

Happy New Year! As we prepare to close-out 2025, we will be closing the office today at noon for inventory and all that fun stuff. We will be also closed tomorrow the 1st. Many thanks to our patients for trusting us for their care, now, and in the future. We appreciate you!

Please be patient this morning, as Spectrum has an outage in the area, and we are trying to survive on just one copper phone line. (And they want to eliminate Copper (POTS) phone lines😅). Oh boy!

Inclement weather announcement. Dr. R has spent all day working on the lot, but Mother Nature is not giving up. For safety reasons, GEC will be closed for routine appointments tomorrow 1/6 and the optical will be closed, but Dr. R will be here for emergencies and for any of HIS patients who want to brave the weather. You will be hearing from staff to reschedule your appointments. Be safe!

Pursuant to Kentucky law, you will need to have your vision tested with any drivers' license renewal. The law went into force 1/1/25. Kentucky gives basically 3 options in the year preceding your renewal. 1. Get the required vision form from your eye care provider at your visit, up to one year before the renewal date. 2. Get the form from a "certified" physician or provider in another specialty. 3. Go to the Drivers' License site and have them test you at the renewal point. The first two options may carry a nominal charge.

At GEC we are happy to fill out your State vision form during your visit in the year preceding your renewal for $10, or if you call for the form, we can have it ready for you in 2 business days for pick up, also for $10. This cost will be added to your patient account, and payment will be expected at pickup. Please do not call us for a form earlier than one year before your expiration. There will be an opportunity for you to disclose your expiration to us at every visit, if you wish us to execute your form. We want to help. Please ask!

Remember that the law didn't change. It's the enforcement that changed. KRS dictates that you need 20/60 vision, minimum, from one eye, with a standardized amount of peripheral vision, to operate a passenger vehicle. A key point to remember is that the drivers' licensing sites will screen at 20/40, so if you have marginal vision and don't pass, they will demand that you receive a formal test at an eye doctor.

If anyone has information related to the hit-and-run property damage caused by a Scott Co Voter parking at our office on Saturday, we would certainly appreciate it! We reached out to law enforcement, and the County Clerks office to get the overflow parking situation under control, and this is our reward. 🤓😥
