🐾Meet Toast🐾

Toast is a lively little kitten with a big personality packed into a tiny black bundle of fur! He’s full of playful energy and loves to explore, chase toys, and turn anything into a game. But don’t let his wild side fool you—he’s also discovered that cuddles are just as fun as playtime.

After a good zoom-around session, Toast is happiest curling up close to his favorite human for snuggles. He’s the perfect mix of mischievous kitten energy and sweet, affectionate companion.

Meet Doug!🐾

Doug was brought to Saint Frances just over a year ago. He has waited a whole year to leave behind the shelter life for the comfort and care of a forever home.

Doug is a sweet, sensitive, 2 year-old boy who is looking for a patient home that will help him continue building his confidence.

Because Doug can be nervous around people, especially strangers, another dog in the home could help him continue gaining confidence and learning that the world isn’t such a scary place.

Doug would do best in a calm home environment, and we recommend a home without small children, as their fast movements and noise may be overwhelming for him.

He’s also a big fan of treats, which are the quickest way to his heart! With a few snacks and a soft voice, you’ll have a loyal friend for life.

A huge thank you to the Johnson and Wall families! 🍋🐾

These cousins from the Johnson and Wall families stopped by the shelter today to donate a check from their weekend lemonade stand. They worked hard raising money for the animals, and we are so touched by their kindness and generosity.

Acts like this remind us how powerful compassion can be—no matter your age. Thank you to these greats kids for making a difference for the pets in our care! 💛

Primrose went home today! 🐾❤️

Thank you to this wonderful family for opening your home to this sweet girl. As one of our volunteers said, "just one adoption makes it all worth it!"

We’re also so grateful to everyone who came out to Dads for Dogs, and to our amazing friends at The Hop Garden and Winyah Bay Brewing Company for hosting -and for all the downtown sponsors who participated!

Another busy week is in the books at Saint Frances Animal Center, and we are incredibly grateful for the support that helped change lives.

A heartfelt thank you to our friends at Empowering Pawz and Kind Keeper Animal Rescue for welcoming a combined 14 dogs and cats into their rescue programs. We are also grateful to our community for making 7 adoptions possible this week.

There is nothing quite like watching one of our Saints leave the shelter and begin the next chapter of their journey with a loving family. Those moments remind our staff and volunteers why they continue showing up every day, even when the challenges seem overwhelming.

To everyone who has shared a post, opened your home as a foster, adopted a pet, volunteered your time, or made a donation – thank you. Every act of support makes a difference. Every action helps save lives.

The need, however, remains urgent. We are currently operating at over 300% capacity for dogs and over 200% for cats, and kitten season is in full swing.

Please continue to share our animals, encourage friends and family to adopt, consider fostering, volunteer if you can, or make a donation. Together, we can give more dogs and cats the second chance they deserve.
