Williamson County voters may be receiving notices from the Elections Department as part of routine voter registration list maintenance taking place across Texas. This is a normal process required by state law to help ensure voter rolls are accurate and up to date before the November election.

Given the ongoing attention surrounding elections and the voting hurdles many Texans have experienced in recent years, it's completely understandable if receiving one of these notices feels concerning or confusing. If one arrives in your mailbox, don't panic.

These notices are legitimate and are being sent by the Williamson County Elections Department as required by the Texas Election Code. Unfortunately, the wording of the notice can be confusing and may seem intimidating, especially if you've never received one before.

The Elections Department receives information from several official sources, including the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), district clerks, jury questionnaire responses, and the U.S. Attorney's Office. While these sources help keep voter records current, the information they provide isn't always accurate. That's why it's important to review the notice carefully if you receive one.

If the information in the notice is incorrect, don't ignore it. Complete the enclosed form and return it as instructed. You have 30 days to respond. Returning the form within that timeframe is the best way to keep your voter registration active. If no response is received, your registration may be canceled as required by state law.

Even if your registration is wrongly canceled, there's still time to fix it. You can update or reinstate your voter registration anytime, all the way up to and including Election Day.

If you have questions or aren't sure how to respond, don't hesitate to ask for help. The Williamson County Elections Department (512-943-1630) and the League of Women Voters are both excellent resources and are happy to answer questions and walk you through the process.

The most important thing to remember is simple: Read the notice, respond if needed, and don't hesitate to ask questions. A few minutes now can help ensure you're ready to vote in November.

We’re proud to celebrate Independence Day across Williamson County this weekend by participating in community traditions like Leander Liberty Fest, the Round Rock Fourth of July Parade, and Frontier Days.

As we celebrate our nation’s founding, we’re reminded that the work of building a stronger democracy never ends. Since 1776, Americans have stood for the principle that no one is above the people. That spirit continues today as we work together to protect our freedoms, strengthen our communities, and ensure every voice is heard.

As we celebrate with family and friends today, let's pause to remember those whose lives were tragically lost during last year's Fourth of July floods. We honor their memory and keep their families and communities in our hearts. 🇺🇸
