Training and socializing a puppy is exhausting, but these folks make it look easy! Training in dog friendly public spaces like .atx is one of the best ways to socialize a (fully vaccinated) puppy, ideally with the help of a knowledgeable, force free trainer. Congratulations to Maple and her loving pawrents on graduating from private training, and many thanks to the friendly staff at Pupology, who graciously helped us with training exercises!

Do you provide enrichment opportunities for your dog? Enrichment is an increasingly important topic in animal training and welfare, and rightly so! We should allow our pets to engage in natural behaviors in our very unnatural human environments, just as we would for a wild animal in captivity. Enrichment is easier than you might think, and never more important than when we’re stuck indoors! If you find inspiration in this post, please like and share to spread the word!
Do you ever wonder why your dog gets so excited when you come home? A big part of the reason is that modern dogs don’t get out much! Human homes and lifestyles these days are pretty barren of sensory input, especially for animals as active as dogs. If you spent 90% of your time in one place, with no jobs to do, you might get a little overexcited when someone came home, too! Instead of trying to train your dog to not get excited with greetings, why not accept your dog as they are, given the life we’ve given them, and enjoy having someone love you so much!
