The kitchen at our last project was selected as HD kitchen of the month for the month of August. Unbeknownst to me they ran a contest where they asked every store across the company to submit an entry or two they felt worthy of being recognized. The gem of a woman I work with on my projects had shared some of my imagery with her store mgr. He sent in some kitchen pics along with a submission and surprised her in this as well. 😁 They selected 12 (one per month) to feature as to what could be accomplished with their team and products offerings.

I received a call several months ago, out of the blue, from a HD marketing executive saying they were considering my design and would I be willing to sign a release for them to use my house’s photos on the website for the project? Then I never heard another word. I was truly just honored to have been considered! Imagining how many kitchens HD does across all of their stores around the world….

Today my contact simply sent me a link to this image under the word - Congratulations! Humbled to say the least!

Huge shout out to Lorraine Phillips at store #6585 for her role in helping create this true piece of “functional art”. Being a little custom home builder I’d expect these types of accolades to be shared with the guys spending huge budget on multiple projects per year. Not the little guy that obsesses incessantly over one project design at a time! At DG Bilt we will just keep doing what we do. The wood is 1000 years old. A bunch of Amish guys turned it into a barn in 1790. Good friends let me repurpose it into a dream outdoor living space 235 years later. This thing is flat out cool!

How are you spending your time here?
1) Cooking food on the worlds best outdoor kitchen equipt
2) Drinking wine to a crackling fire in the 11ft stone fireplace
3) Bourbon and ci**rs while daydreaming about the hand craftsmanship put in by the previous user of this lumber
