Go Outside. Get Dirty. Have Fun.

We are a community of families who believe that some of life’s most important lessons are learned Outside. Our goal is to create confident, resilient, and self-reliant children all while having fun in a (mostly) outdoor context. Basically we try to do a lot of fun stuff like the Rocket Academy or camping or Pinewood Derby or spending the night on the USS Lexington or Zoo Snooze at Waco Zoo (et cetera). All the while we try to instill some life lessons and skills (blending broccoli into the spaghetti). The kids earn patches and rewards along the way - what kid doesn’t love swag and flair? Scouts BSA is, after all of these long years, a phenomenal curriculum and program. We meet Mondays at 6:30pm at Christ Lutheran Church.

Rocket Academy on Monday night was AWESOME (as expected)! Glad to see all the new faces and we hope to see you again soon!

Howdy all, announcing our annual Rocket Academy on the 25th of September at 6:30pm at Christ Lutheran Church. Boys and girls from Kinder through 4th grade are welcome to attend. Why? Because rockets are AWESOME!!

Cubs & Webelos! We will meet at the Dell Diamond this Sunday, June 25. Game time is 6:05 PM.

There will be free kids events (inflatables, train rides, etc.) before the game, and the kids will be allowed to run the bases after the game is over.

Cubmaster Lott will be out on the lawn (and probably in and out of the kids area) during the game.

We can’t wait to see you all there! Remember, this event goes toward the summertime pack award this year!

REI is having their biggest sale of the year. Lots of cool camping stuff — including green zip off pants that work REALLY well for BSA uniform pants.

Garey Park is having 2 events May
20. There is a guided Interpretive Hike at 10am that will cover approximately 1 to 3 miles and is appropriate for all ages. Pre-registration is required.

Fishing is 8-10am and $15 per resident. They will provide fishing equipment, instruction, and bait. Children under the age of 12 must have an enrolled parent to participate in the program. Fee includes entry into Garey Park.

Congratulations to Troop 405! Recently the scouts went to the San Gabriel Camporee and brought home awards for BOTH Top Unit and Top Patrol!

If you don't know what Camporee is, it is a weekend campout where all of the San Gabriel BSA units (Georgetown, Liberty Hill, Florence, Jarrell, and Granger) meet for fellowship, skill competitions, and fun.

Not only did our scouts win at Camporee, but the Troop brought home the top GOLD rating for Journey to Excellence for the 10th year in a row! The gold award is the highest rating a troop can get and demonstrates above and beyond excellence for how the troop is run and managed. Troops are rated on planning, budgeting, membership, volunteer leadership and the overall program. The gold rating is difficult to achieve, especially year after year. It is a fantastic indication of the quality and health of a program and its ability to serve youth.

Young cubs (and especially Webelos!), look to these older scouts for inspiration. When you transition into Troop 405, be confident that the next leg of your scouting journey will be amazing.
