What is the right answer?

Back in 2013, a nurse in Texas was chilling at home, watching a home renovation show on TV. While watching, she noticed something that caught her attention. The show's host, Tarek El Moussa, had a noticeable lump on his neck. To the nurse, it didn't look normal.

She wasn't sure whether she should say anything or just let it go. In the end, she decided to speak up. She sent an email to the show's production team, suggesting that Tarek get it checked out by a doctor.

At the time, Tarek had already seen a physician and was told it was probably just allergies. But after hearing about the nurse's concern, he decided to get a second opinion. Further testing and a biopsy revealed something far more serious: Stage 3 thyroid cancer. The cancer had already spread to his lymph nodes.

Doctors moved quickly. Tarek underwent surgery to remove his thyroid gland, and the treatment was successful.

But a few months later, he received another tough diagnosis—testicular cancer. Fortunately, that cancer was also caught and treated successfully.

Today, more than a decade later, Tarek remains cancer-free. He often says the same thing: a nurse sitting at home watching TV saved his life. She had never met him and didn't even know him personally. Yet she chose to act, and that simple act of compassion made all the difference.
