A cool morning on the Frenchman Coulee. We camped here back on the EJOY and played a few songs on camera on the morning of Halloween. This was just me messin’ around with a new one. I don’t even think this part made it into the studio version. The sentiment is still there.

Earlier this week the astronauts behind NASA’s Artemis II mission broke the record for the furthest distance any human has traveled from planet Earth. I watched live as they radio’d back to ground control with a couple of suggestions for the names of two craters on the moon. One of those suggestions was Carroll, named after Captain Reid Wiseman’s late wife. I shed actually tears watching them all embrace in the moment that followed. Space hug!

Serendipitously, we started debuting a brand new song on tour the day that Artemis launched, and now these two things are forever linked in my mind. It’s called “Alien”, here’s a little snippet. Nothing crazy, just 5 people making music together and a recording from the board (thanks Kyle Kubiak)
