Today marks 50 years since a pivotal moment in New York wine history.

The Farm Winery Act of 1976 helped transform New York’s wine industry by giving grape growers the opportunity to become winemakers — paving the way for family-owned wineries, agricultural tourism, and wine regions like the Finger Lakes to flourish.

What began with fewer than 20 wineries has grown into one of the most exciting wine communities in the country, driven by generations of growers, winemakers, hospitality teams, and passionate supporters.

We’re proud to be part of that story here on Seneca Lake — and grateful for the visionaries who believed New York wine could become something extraordinary. Cheers to 50 years of progress, perseverance, and incredible wine. 🍷
