Happy Thanksgiving from the Heron Rowing Team!!! 💚🤍We have so much to be thankful for this year. Our amazing coaches, growing team, supportive families, and beautiful school have made the past year unforgettable! We wish everyone a safe and joyful holiday season! ⭐️⭐️

Our varsity team had a great race day! Our three varsity pairs got gold, silver, and bronze, with Elisa Faiola ‘24 and Kate Abdalla ‘26 in first! Our varsity four, led by Wasner ‘25, Bliss ‘24, Morrison ‘25, Fischer ‘23, and cox. Lee ‘25 scored a first place finish against Ithaca. 💚💚 Our varsity eight and second varsity eight received second and third to Mercyhurst, through a fun and competitive course ‼️‼️ Up next… winter training 🦅

Our first-year rower eight had their first race today, at the Touchdown Regatta! The birds took the course with a strong start and consistent middle, passing their opponents, the Ithaca Bombers. First time lace finish! Safe to say, these birds have plan to fly high in the spring! 🦅🦅💚💚

Yesterday, our team wore pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month! As said best by co-captain Isabella De Nes, “Heightened awareness of breast cancer leads to a greater number of screenings. Getting the diagnosis early on results in better treatment and overall outcomes.” We encourage you all to show your support for such an important cause. 💗💗

A very successful 2022 Head of the Charles! A strong fight through the river, passing two boats, tight turns, and focus resulted in a seventh place finish. This the Heron’s highest place since 2008. Momentum is building, and we have a big year ahead of us! 💚💚💚

Joining the squad Heidi Huffman, from Chadds Ford PA. Heidi chose HWS “because of the beautiful campus, small school feel, and wonderful people I met while I was there.”
We cannot wait to meet you, Heidi; and we hope all freshman are having a great time at orientation! 🙌🙌

Kate Abdalla!! Let’s all welcome Kate to the nest; she is joining us from Yardley, Pennsylvania, where she previously rowed. Here’s why Kate chose HWS: “I chose HWS because it was the one place I visited I thought I could call home— but I think meeting the team is what sealed the deal.”

Let’s welcome Rachel Faust ‘26 to the team! Rachel comes from Bloomfield Hills, MI. We’re so excited to have Rachel join our team as a great student-athlete!! When asked why she chose HWS, here’s what Faust said: “I chose HWS not only for the strong environmental science department but also for the incredibly supportive community I witnessed during my visits. I’m excited to be part of the team!! Go Herons!”

Linnea Darius!
Linnea is joining our crew from Bethesda, Maryland. When asked about why she choose the HWS community, Linnea said:
