Lee Board Commissioners now say that the new Fort Myers Beach pier will be done in August 2027, a year earlier than they originally thought.
These are renderings of what the longer and wider pier will look like. Construction will likely start in summer 2026.

The Sundial Beach Resort on Sanibel just reopened! That’s a huge deal for Sanibel Island as they continue recovering from Hurricane Ian. Fort Myers Beach has 50% of its hotel rooms back since Ian but Sanibel is only about half that. Hopefully this gives the island a boost.
