You may have noticed a large influx of small dogs here at GCACE, sadly, many of them coming to us in very poor condition😔

Lambchop ID #: 61137548 (pictured below) came in with both Mabel ID #: 61137763 and Dipper ID #: 61137756. We don't know how 3 tiny dogs found themselves lost in such a big world, we just hope they weren't purposefully left💔

Lambchop is struggling the most here at the shelter. Mabel and Dipper were able to be groomed by a local groomer who generously volunteered to help. Lambchop is far less tolerant and with the matting so severe, it's likely he will need sedation.

Lambchop is understandably defensive and panics when a leash is placed overhead, but once he finds his way into a quiet staff office where he feels safe, he enjoys pets. We are looking for a calm place where this little guy can begin his healing.

Meet Luna💗

This pointy eared girl comes to us as a stray, unfortunately without any ID tags or a microchip - leaving us nowhere else to search for a family that might be missing her🥺

Luna has not been with us very long and she is still settling in. She can be easily startled and becomes "flighty." Because of this, we are looking for breed specific or experienced handler placement for Luna. We understand that fearful dogs require extra safety measures (secure fencing and direct supervision, double leash methods, etc.) to prevent her from escaping while she is still learning to trust.

Some dogs need extra time and unfortunately that's very hard to find in an overcrowded shelter😔

This Tuxedo kitty comes to us as a stray. Upon intake he was covered in oil so we suspect he might have found his way under a car hood or possibly into mechanic shop where his exploring got him into some trouble😅 Our responding officer bathed him right away and as you know most cats are not tolerant of this, but it's as if Mac knew we were trying to help💙

Unfortunately, we discovered that Mac has an ear infection and he is currently under treatment for this. He has also begun overgrooming which is typically a stress related behavior😔 We are hopeful in finding a foster home or rescue organization that can help Mac during his continued treatment. Being kept in a small kennel is no fun for this boy with such adventurous nature in his heart.

Barney and Spud are here at the shelter following the passing of their owner😔They are both quite shut down as all of this is very new to them. Being removed from the only home they knew is a traumatic experience for any animal.

Barney was actually adopted from us several years back🥺 We can tell he was well loved by the condition he returns to us in! He's not missed any meals or snacks, he's remained HW negative, and his coat and skin are healthy. We did find that Spud has Grade 4 dental disease and will very likely need full mouth extractions but otherwise comes to us with no other health concerns.

Barney did join dog playgroups with other dogs similar in size to him, he is fairly aloof and seems to prefer being around other gentle/calm dogs that will give him space. At this time, he is not interested in play or persistent engagement with other dogs but of course this can change as he decompresses.
