Robert De Niro and Jane Rosenthal founded the Tribeca Festival to bring people back to downtown Manhattan after the World Trade Center attacks on 9/11. Now, we’re celebrating the 25th year of the festival as it gets ready to kick off on Wednesday. I am proud to announce that a documentary about me called “Whipple’s World” made it into the festival. It’s directed by Adam Verity and produced by Cody Williams. I couldn’t be prouder! Come out and see us! World Premiere is June 12 with screenings on June 13 & 14.

I’m with the angels in this week’s Flashback Friday, Charlie’s Angels. I covered the premiere of the “Charlie’s Angels” film more than 25 years ago at The Ziegfeld Theater in Midtown. The film starred Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz, and Lucy Liu as the crime-fighting trio at the Charles Townsend Detective Agency. The film was inspired by the 1970s hit television series starring the original angels: Farrah Fawcett, Jaclyn Smith, and Kate Jackson. Cheryl Ladd joined the cast when Farrah left the show after one season.

Piano tuners played by Dustin Hoffman and Leo Woodall criss-cross New York City for an eclectic list of customers in the new film called “Tuner.” I spoke with Dustin and Leo about the film and shooting in the city. “Tuner” is playing in select theaters and expands nationwide on May 29th.

For this week’s Flashback Friday, I travel back in time to the Ziegfeld Theater in 2000 for the premiere of Robert Altman’s “Dr. T & the Women.” The film included so many of my favorite actors: Richard Gere, Laura Dern, Kate Hudson, Shelley Long, and Helen Hunt. In the film, Richard plays a rich and successful gynecologist who caters to a high-society clientele.
