The Town of Garner and Garner Police Department use social media to interact with residents, businesses and visitors about public issues related to our jurisdiction. Please note that our social media properties are moderated online discussion sites and are subject to North Carolina public records laws, as well as e-discovery laws and policies. All comme

nts and content shared on our government-sponsored social media must pertain to items within the jurisdictional control or authority of our governmental unit. The Town of Garner and Garner Police Department reserve the right to delete submissions that do not meet the purpose of our social media properties as set out above. The following are examples of unacceptable social networking content and comments. Please note this list is not intended to be all inclusive:

* Any content or comments that do not relate to the jurisdiction or authority of the jurisdiction itself.
* Profane or obscene language or content as determined by the profanity filters offered through each social media platform (such posts result in the comment/content being blocked through the social media’s profanity filter).
* Content that promotes, fosters or perpetrates discrimination on the basis of race, natural hair or hairstyles, ethnicity, creed, color, s*x, pregnancy, marital or familial status, s*xual orientation, gender identity or expression, national origin or ancestry, National Guard or veteran status, religious belief or non-belief, age or disability.
* Duplicate posts by the same author (the original post will be left intact assuming it follows the guidelines of acceptable comments or content).
* Solicitations of commerce, including content that contains gratuitous links (links or references to other relevant governmental webpages or official government sites are acceptable).
* Promotions or content related to political organizations of any type.
* Advocation of illegal activity; or those that compromise safety or security of the public.
* Infringement on copyrights or trademarks.
* Confidential or non-public information, including but not limited to any personally identifiable medical information and any content that violates the legal rights of the owner of said content. We are looking forward to tomorrow's Garner Juneteenth Celebration, titled "By Our Own Labor," at Garner Performing Arts Center starting at 11 a.m. The free event kicks off Garner's Freedom Weeks, which culminate with our July 3rd Independence Day Celebration at Lake Benson Park.

Town offices and facilities will be closed on Friday, June 19 for Juneteenth.

•There will be no changes to solid-waste collection.
•Parks remain open normal hours.
•Development services can be accessed online at garnernc.gov/about-us/development-services
•Water and sewer bills can be paid online at raleighnc.gov/doing-business/services/make-utility-payment

Lowes Home Improvement (Store 488, Garner) generously donated numerous items to the Police Department today, including a battery-powered scene light for nighttime crime scenes, extension cords, plywood for our upcoming in-service training, a new tire wrench, a tool set, and several other useful items.

We are proud to announce that our most recent Basic Law Enforcement Training attendees have graduated from Johnston Community College last Friday.

Please join us in congratulating Brayden May, Jillian Randazzo, Robert Baughman, Alexander Rodriguez, and Patrick Sasser on this significant achievement. They will now begin department orientation and embark on their 16-week Field Training Program.
