Hi, friends! I’m so grateful you’re here enjoying art. I had to update my picture since it was so old!
A little about me!
I’m a blessed mama of four beautiful children. Three tummy babes and one heart baby. Our heart baby is the one we adopted and he is rocking the extra 21st chromosome.
Becoming a mom to a childwith has been a huge learning curve and adventure! Not easy but worth it.
I’m also a grandma and my name is “Mimsy” to my 3 adorable grandbabies.
I believe God gave me the gift of painting to use to help others so a portion of my art is dedicated to helping families fund their adoptions and medical needs for adoptive kiddos. Just go to my website and click on Fly Home Fundraising for more info! To date, FHF has raised over $125,000 for adopting families.
I mainly work in watercolors but I also adore graphite and pencils and I recently started my oil adventures!
I’m kinda absent minded and eclectic.
I’ll try to post things that really interest people and feel free to message me questions or thoughts. I love to hear from you!
Thank you for your love for art and all things colorful and beautiful.
God bless.

Class 2 of oils at the Village Art Circle with .jiang.art
I definitely felt more familiar with the medium this week and u made much less of a mess but I ended up driving home and being in public with a bunch of paint on my face, so there’s that! Jj is a fantastic teacher. I also realized I needed to spring for oil brushes because my watercolor brushes aren’t cutting it. After this class, I definitely felt like I could set up a still life and I’d at least know where to begin the process. Biggest upside is oils are easy to fix. Biggest downside is washing brushes and how on earth did that paint get here, there, and everywhere. 😂

Second oil painting since yesterday’s class. Let’s just say I have:
1. Lamented dramatically multiple times to my husband about how I haven’t conquered oils yet (he reminded me that my class was less than 24 hours ago). But still….
2. Struggled with how dang lazy oils are. They just sit there and don’t do anything! Watercolors do the work for you in blending….I disapprovingly told them so.
3. Subconsciously preserved the white of the canvas and painted light to dark (what you normally do in watercolors)
4. Washed more brushes than I care to count. Sheesh. Oils are messy.
5. Multiple times have declared I love oils and then declared I hate them (depending on what ugly phase my painting is going through)
6. Substituted olive oil for vegetable oil….it’s oil, right?
Please check in on the spouses of artists who commence a new medium. They are not ok.
Also not ok, the artist who is learning the new medium.
Oh. My. Stars.

Ok, I did my FIRST oil class yesterday and I loved it so much! I definitely need to switch my brain from light to dark painting (watercolors) to dark to light painting (oils). It’s the complete opposite.
And I pretty much had paint everywhere by the time I was done. But I got the gist of the basics and I’m going to PRACTICE. I need to set up an oil corner in my art studio because oils are super messy and I was a hot mess.
I ended up practicing on two and I need to slow down because I think watercolors has trained my brain to block in shapes fast before a wash dries, like within minutes, but with oils, you can literally take days to block in your base, and I was painting waaaayyy too fast, as JJ, the teacher reminded me.
So, stay tuned! So fun! .jiang.art
