A win for Dallas Area Rapid Transit — even with one high-profile loss.
After months of pressure and talk of cities breaking away, DART held the line in 2 of 3 key votes:
• Addison: 70% voted to STAY
• University Park: 54% voted to STAY
• Highland Park: 70% voted to LEAVE
Bottom line:
The system held.
Yes, Highland Park is out — the first city in nearly 40 years to exit — but the bigger picture?
Two cities reaffirmed their commitment to regional transit
DART avoids a broader unraveling
The core system — and funding base — remains intact
There will be real impacts in Highland Park, where service will end quickly once the vote is finalized. But for DART, this could have been much worse.
Instead of a collapse… it’s a contained loss.
