With this mixture of materials, the shipping line imposed strict container loading requirements and a detailed port inspection process had to be completed. As a seasoned athlete, EMO Trans' Corporate Sustainability Manager Renee Villanueva is always game for taking on new challenges! After participating in the niche sport of flatwater sprint kayaking for seven years, she ventured into the world of marathon kayaking this year.

Renee (pictured second from right) and four teammates competed at the World Masters Championship held in Vejen, Denmark in September. “It was an amazing experience to represent Team USA and meet paddlers from all over the world. It was also a phenomenal travel destination thanks to our exceptional Danish hosts,” she said.

Our EMO Empowered Committee (EEC) took on a new initiative last month to help teachers and students. Through AdoptAClassroom.org, a nonprofit organization where 100% of all proceeds go directly to classroom needs, the EEC made individual donations to high-needs schools within the neighborhoods of our office locations. By directly impacting our local communities, we’re supporting equal opportunities in education for all students regardless of their environmental and financial circumstances.

Our Global Meeting last month brought old friends and new partners together on Amelia Island in Florida. Since our last in-person meeting five years ago, we’ve become accustomed to using Teams and Zoom meetings to connect; however, the opportunity to see all EMO countries represented in person and meet global partners face-to-face was energizing and productive. The "Welcome to the World of EMO" dinner last night was a global success! With employees and partners from over 24 countries, it was a true representation of our diverse and inclusive culture. It looks like our Global Network guests had a great time yesterday with a team building activity on the beach. They spent the sunny afternoon creating sand art and proved that "Success by Performance" is truly a team effort, not just our motto!

EMO-TRANS Dusseldorf and Lufthansa Cargo recently hosted two valued EMO customers in Frankfurt and experienced a guided tour at the Frankfurt cargo terminal.

In addition to learning more about the detailed processes of an airfreight export shipment, the participants had the good fortune to see a freighter landing and being unloaded, and to take a close look inside a Boeing 777F.
