“With a globally growing environmental consciousness and the rapidly increasing costs of resources, a workable Environmental Management System (EMS) can create an advantage in competition and steadily increase our environmental performance,” says Stefan Ritter, Commercial Manager/Sea Freight. “EMO-TRANS GmbH has established an EMS that's been implemented in our branches and divisions, and we are officially certified ISO 14001, executed and audited by DEKRA. With the ISO 14001 certification, we are focusing on the environment in our company culture and setting an example for our employees, partners and customers."

The Safer Highways and Increased Performance for Interstate Trucking (SHIP IT) Act would offer truck drivers up to $10,000 in tax credits and training incentives as part of new bipartisan legislation aimed at retaining and recruiting drivers. The SHIP IT Act also incorporates truck parking funding and an hours-of-service exemption for livestock haulers — long-sought measures by drivers and carriers. Lawmakers are calling the bill a “sweeping overhaul of the interstate trucking supply chain system," similar to last year’s Ocean Shipping Reform Act.

Chicago O’Hare avoids labor impasse, cargo disruption

A final ground handling agent at Chicago O’Hare International Airport has reached a required labor agreement and will continue cargo operations, sparing several cargo airlines from potential service interruptions. The Chicago Department of Aviation (CDA) on Tuesday notified freighter operators that cargo handler Swissport has signed an agreement with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU).

Alliance Ground International, another major airport service provider, on Friday agreed on a plan for the SEIU to access its facilities and meet with workers. Worldwide Flight Services reached a resolution with the union much earlier.

EMO Trans has significant expertise in the careful transport of live animals. During the holidays, our team in Dusseldorf with the support of the team in Frankfurt arranged shipment of falcons from Cologne to Dubai.

Five falcons were first brought to the Frankfurt Animal Lounge and then safely shipped to the Arab Emirates on a direct flight. The falcons had hoods on to keep them calm and avoid stress.

EMO Trans Newsletter December 2022 | Happy Holidays! As we close out 2022, I wanted to provide an outlook for domestic transportation in 2023. The economy continues to influence the trucking sector in significant ways.

Last month, EMO Baltimore Branch Manager Stephen Schein was asked by to give remarks on the supply chain as part of their Autumn Evening of Global Trade and Networking. The event was held at The Penthouse at the Washington Post Building in Washington DC. Stephen says, “At this recent event, I met a wide array of folks involved in international trade inside and outside state and federal government and had the honor of meeting the Ukraine Embassy’s commercial trade service staff. I talked about the challenges we are still facing in supply chain logistics, including blanked vessels and labor and recruiting issues. It was a great evening with great food, and I made a lot of excellent contacts.”

Our team in Dusseldorf had their Christmas party last Friday and enjoyed a great evening together. After work, the colleagues went to a lovely Christmas market in Ratingen and had dinner at a local brewery with plenty of (alcohol-free) beer and plenty of laughs! 😊

As they do every year, EMO-TRANS Germany made a donation to the Bärenherz Foundation; this is the 18th(!) year in a row. The Bärenherz Foundation runs a hospice in Wiesbaden and a children's home called “Nesthäkchen” in Hünstetten-Görsroth.

Shareholders Thomas Klinkhammer, Stefan Ritter, Randolph Reichel and Bernhard Stock visited the children´s house "Nesthäkchen" on December 9th. They were given a warm welcome and handed out the donation to Anja Eli-Klein and Erik Gallasch.

EMO Trans leaders were pleased to attend a global conference in Sun City near Johannesburg hosted by Bidvest International Logistics, our partner in South Africa.

EMO Trans was represented by colleagues from the US, Germany, Benelux, and selected Asian countries. The goal was to exchange ideas on how to jointly support customers’ needs.

“Focusing on our mutual strengths and capabilities helped us strategize how to enhance our position as the leading logistics provider for the South African market,” noted Marco Rohrer, President & CEO. “We left the conference with a clear mission to work together for our mutual benefit."

Jean-Marc Richter, General Manager France & Benelux, added that the opportunity to meet face-to-face strengthened relationships formed during the pandemic, when video meetings became the norm. "This experience reinforced my perception of Bidvest’s excellence (that I’ve experienced daily for almost three years) and the professionalism of their teams. I want to thank them warmly for the quality of their welcome and for the flawless organization of this event. It was a memorable stay professionally and on a human level," he said.

Let the Christmas party season start! On Monday, December 5th our EMO-TRANS team in Munich had a cozy pre-Christmas dinner. What a good start to a new week!

EMO Chile was pleased to attend , the largest exhibition in the world devoted to the Chilean walnut industry. The show brings together more than 550 companies that participate in this important sector. EMO Chile has a longstanding expertise in the shipment of perishable food and beverage items from the region, including those that require careful handling and temperature-controlled transport. EMO Chile is able to arrange transport for fragile cargo anywhere in the world by air.
