The Pallet Shoppe for tragically losing their business to fire early this morning. Unfortunately, I understand the devastation that losing your business to fire leaves behind. What you have poured your heart and soul into all gone in a matter of minutes. Please continue to keep them in your thoughts and prayers as they move forward.

"This year has been a mix of everything good, bad and everything in between. It's been full of lessons I didn't ask for and moments I didn't expect. Some days felt like too much, like I was barely holding it together. And other days gave me just enough light to keep going. It's strange how a year can break you and build you back up all at once. I've seen sides of myself that I didn't know were there some I'm proud of, some I'm still figuring out. BUT I'M STILL HERE, STILL STANDING and maybe that’s enough. This year as been rough but it's also been a reminder that no matter what, you keep going and you hold your head high. Don't let your pain, your struggles, your broken heart define you."

January 10th, 2025. 365 days and I have yet to wake up free from panic or heartache. My business of thirteen years was everything to me, my purpose, my reason and in a matter of minutes gone. I am forever changed. ❤️‍🩹

Today September 12th we should be celebrating our TWELFTH business Anniversary at EliteTan. However instead today it is a gut wrenching reminder that nine month's ago we lost that entire business, what we worked so hard for to a fire. A lot happened in those twelve years. We both lost parents, we were shut down during a Covid pandemic, struggled with losing employees, running the business with just myself for the last five years, dealt with our own health issues including multiple surgeries but we managed to survive it all until the wee early morning hours that dark, snowy, freezing January 10th day when we lost it all. Through the heartache and devastation that I continue to feel still everyday I can't help to also feel so extremely grateful for the multiple Fire Depts it took to fight that fire and that everyone remained safe.
On a happier note we had a lot of blessings, things I've been proud of over the years. Our tanning salon was featured in the
"ist magazine" which is a huge recognition (heartbroken we lost that plaque in the fire,) eight years ago we were definitely blessed to have added "our" Mary one of Gallia Counties top hairstylist, we gained a lot of new clients year after year and in this small town you wouldn't think that could be possible. Each of which became more than just clients but lifelong friends. I loved getting to know everyone and being a small part of your day. I will always appreciate your loyalty that you gave year after year to our business! 💛

I think the three of us would agree as hard as this has all been we are thankful that it is finally down. Coming into town these past eight weeks seeing what was barely hanging on still standing was a painful constant reminder.
With that being said this is the post that I have been agonizing over making. But as I have continued to receive messages almost daily since this has happened it's time to answer the repeated question I am getting. Unfortunately Michael and I did not come to this decision easily but we will not be reopening another tanning salon. We have been asked if we are going to rebuild. As most of my clients were already aware but some obviously were not we did not own the building we were in. We like many businesses in this area leased the building. So it is not our property to rebuild on. And since we have never heard from the building owner not even once since the fire occurred we have no idea what their plans for the property are. For us a lot of factors went into this decision. To house the number of beds we had or more there just isn't a location suitable, the uncertain economy, especially for a small business. The increased cost to replace the three tanning beds and Versa Spa we had since we last purchased thirteen years ago came as a HUGE shock. Not to mention our ages and health we just couldn't make it make sense as much as we wanted it to. We are very happy that Mary was able to find her new home salon and they welcomed her with open arms.
We will forever be proud that we were able to have a successful business that survived during a pandemic and to serve this community as long as we did. Michael and I thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

Since the initial few days following the fire I have tried to refrain from posting much about it. We all are going through something and have our own stress and heartaches. Nevertheless it's been seven week's now and in a nutshell I'm just so sad. When I can sleep, I wake up gasping for breath when my thoughts remind me that it is a nightmare that did truly occur. I feel lost not having my purpose, my normal, what I worked so hard for and honestly I'm mad that this happened. I'm just still so heartbroken. 💔
