📚 Summer Literacy Sessions
Chris Honett is also offering individualized 6-session literacy packages designed to meet each student where they are and help them grow throughout the summer with joyful, engaging instruction.

Sessions may include:
• Phonics
• Reading comprehension & fluency
• Creative writing
• Personalized skill-building based on student goals and needs

Each student receives tailored lesson planning designed specifically for their learning style and areas of growth.

🎁 Gift certificates are also available — a wonderful option for birthdays, summer enrichment, or back-to-school preparation.

All summer lesson packages and literacy sessions are $210 for 6 meetups with flexible scheduling.

Our students have been working hard all semester, and we’re excited to share an afternoon of music with our community.

This recital will feature the voice and piano students of Rebecca Honett, Abigail Olson, and Alyssa Otey-Russell.

This event is free and open to the public—no tickets required. We’d love for you to come support these dedicated young musicians!

That’s why we’re especially proud to share that our literacy coach, Chris Honett, is the author of the beautiful children’s book “When We Say Goodnight”, illustrated by Jason Lind.

This story captures the quiet magic of bedtime — the moments of imagination, comfort, and connection that matter so much in a child’s development. It’s exactly the kind of thoughtful, creative work we believe in bringing to families in our community.

We were so honored to represent Honett Studio this week as gifted and talented music evaluators (guitar and voice) for Gallia County Local Schools. It was such a joy to hear and spend time with these talented young musicians—what an inspiring group!

Alyssa is completing her first year with the studio and we're excited to have her continuing on with us and returning for the 2026-27 season!

Alyssa Otey-Russell - Piano and Voice

Originally from Belle, WV, Alyssa has been singing since age two and studied piano and voice throughout her youth before earning her BA in Music Education from Marshall University, where she received the Turley Award for Outstanding Musicianship. She later earned a Masters in Interdisciplinary Arts from the University of Rio Grande and a masters certificate in Leadership Studies from Marshall University.

Alyssa taught choir and music in public schools for 20 years and has performed in more than 30 productions, including favorite roles with the Actors Guild of Parkersburg and Riverby Theater Guild. She has also appeared as a soprano soloist and directed numerous stage productions and revues.

We’re so excited to welcome our newest piano teacher, Shannon Gwiazda, to the studio! 🎹

Shannon brings over a decade of musical experience, with a background in both classical and jazz piano. She has performed extensively, accompanied choirs and theater productions, and studied under acclaimed jazz musician Jonny May. In addition to her performance work, she has taught students of all ages and served as a music theory tutor at the college level.

Shannon is passionate about helping each student discover their own musical path. She tailors her teaching to individual learning styles, encouraging creativity, curiosity, and a genuine love for music—while building strong foundational skills.

🎶 Homeschool families in Gallia and surrounding counties — a new music opportunity this fall! 🎶

Honett Studio is excited to introduce a Homeschool Chorus & Musicianship program for ages 5–12.

This 8-week music program invites students into collaborative music-making in a supportive mixed-age environment. Together, students will explore group singing, rhythm and percussion, music fundamentals, and creative hands-on instrument improvisation.

The session will conclude with a performance experience for families.

📅 Tuesdays | 1–3 PM
🎨 Optional extended play and social time | 3–4 PM
💲 $195 for the full 8-week session (siblings after the first child registered are $97.50).
