Give them knowledge and watch the journey they take! Comfort Cases and the Scheer 7 are dedicated to change what we think about our "invisible kids"

This morning I had the opportunity to kick off FOX 5’s Summer Zip Trip at the Rio with some truly incredible people and what an amazing way to start the holiday weekend.

I always say that relationships matter, and today was another reminder of how blessed we are to have friends like Tucker, Annie, Chad, Marisa, and the entire FOX 5 family who have supported Comfort Cases for so many years. Their continued belief in our mission means more than they know. And while we missed Jacqueline this morning, we’ll get to see her in the studio on Tuesday!

What made today even more special was getting the chance to talk about foster care, family, and the power of love and belonging with our community. These moments matter because every conversation helps shine a light on children in foster care and reminds people that dignity, hope, and family can truly change lives.

And don’t forget — this Tuesday at 11AM, tune into The Marissa Mitchell Show to see Reece, Tristan, and me share our story and talk about how foster care built our forever family. ❤️

Wishing everyone a safe, meaningful, and joy-filled holiday weekend.

Years ago, we took this photo not knowing our family story wasn’t finished yet.

The only thing missing was our son Alex — because we hadn’t met him yet.

Today, thanks to my amazing sister-in-law Tamara and a little bit of magic, all five of our children are finally together in one picture.

Family isn’t always about timing. Sometimes it’s about love finding its way exactly when it’s supposed to. ❤️

I was truly honored to serve as the keynote speaker at the Montgomery County Public Schools Educational Foundation’s Evening of Excellence at The Music Center at Strathmore. ✨

This incredible event celebrated nearly 250 scholarship and award recipients, as well as the supporters and organizations helping students across Montgomery County pursue brighter futures through education.

Being able to share my story and stand alongside so many inspiring young people, educators, and community leaders was incredibly meaningful. Congratulations to all of this year’s scholars and honorees — your hard work, resilience, and determination deserve to be celebrated. 🎓💙

Just received an amazing new book in the mail — Ready or Not, I Never Asked For This by my friend Marcy Bursac 📚

I’m so excited to dive into this powerful, easy-to-read story, especially because it’s such an important read for middle schoolers and high schoolers navigating life’s unexpected challenges. Marcy even included a thoughtful note inside that I absolutely love ❤️

Make sure to grab a copy for the young readers in your life and support this incredible message.

Every kick can make a difference!

This May, the incredible students of Kicks Karate are stepping onto the mat for the 2026 Kick-A-Thon to support children experiencing foster care, and we need YOUR help: https://give.comfortcases.org/campaign/798037/donate✨

On May 21, 22, and 23, students will perform 100 kicks during their classes while friends, family, and supporters pledge donations per kick to help provide dignity, comfort, and hope to children entering foster care.

Too many children are forced to carry their belongings in trash bags when entering foster care. At Comfort Cases, we believe every child deserves better. Your support helps us provide backpacks filled with essentials like pajamas, blankets, hygiene kits, stuffed animals, books, and notes of encouragement ❤️

No donation is too small; every kick and every dollar helps change a child’s story.

Join us in cheering these students on and supporting a cause that truly matters. 🙌

Seven years ago, something truly special was brought to life on Sesame Street. 💛

As a member of the Sesame Street Advisory Board, I had the incredible honor of helping introduce foster care representation to the world in a way that had never been done before, through Karli, the very first Muppet in foster care.

I’ll never forget standing on the streets of Sesame Street alongside Big Bird, Ernie, Elmo, and all our friends as Karli’s story began. Her friendship with Elmo has touched the hearts of countless children and families, helping foster youth feel seen, valued, and understood.

Today, we celebrate Karli’s 7th birthday and the powerful impact she continues to make every single day. From all of us at Comfort Cases, happy birthday, Karli! You are deeply loved, and we are grateful for everything you represent. 🎉💚

Minneapolis, you showed up in a big way today.

Sitting at the airport heading home with a full heart after an incredible day with our longtime partners at Target. For 14 years, they’ve stood beside Comfort Cases and helped us remind children entering foster care that they matter.

Watching employees carry backpacks through the halls, seeing rooms filled with purpose, and knowing every single bag will reach a child who may be carrying everything they own… that never gets old.

This mission started because I once carried my belongings in a trash bag. Today, because of partnerships like this, thousands of children will instead receive dignity, hope, and something they can truly call their own.

Thank you, Minneapolis.
Thank you, Target.
And thank you to every single person who packed with purpose today. ❤️

Many people say, “I’m not the type of person who could be a foster parent.” The truth is, there is no “type.” 💙

This National Foster Care Awareness Month, remember that kids in foster care don’t need perfect people; they need caring people, those willing to show up, encourage, listen, and make a difference in a child’s life.

If you’ve ever thought, “I could do this,” don’t ignore that feeling. One caring adult can completely change a child’s future.

Thanks to for helping more people realize the impact they can make every day. Learn more at 👉 www.fostermore.org

Because hope begins with someone saying, “I’m here.” ✨

Nothing beats stopping by the office before a flight and finding a surprise like this waiting on your desk 🍌⚾️💛

Huge thank you to our amazing friends and partners at for the incredible No Plate Like Home Bananas Foster T-shirt! This means so much because every shirt helps support kids in foster care, turning something fun into something truly impactful.

Special shoutout to Emily and Jesse for the shirt and for helping bring awareness to such an important mission.

If you haven’t grabbed your shirt yet, now’s the time! Let’s show up for kids in foster care in true Banana Ball style 🙌

Different airline. Same airport. Same mission.

Today I’m heading to Minneapolis for a full-circle moment that means more than I can put into words. Fourteen years ago, when Comfort Cases was just beginning, Target believed in our mission. They stood beside us before so many people even knew who we were.

Now, all these years later, I get to walk into their corporate office and share the impact WE have made together for children entering foster care — children who deserve dignity, hope, and to know they matter.

What started with one simple idea — that no child should carry their belongings in a trash bag — has grown because of partners like Target who chose to care and chose to act.

Every flight. Every meeting. Every packed case. Every story. It’s all about making sure kids in foster care feel seen, valued, and loved.

Minneapolis… let’s do this. ❤️

There’s something about having all five kids home that just resets everything for me.

Started the day in the gym, spent the rest of it getting ready for what’s going to be a crazy week of travel, meetings, and nonstop movement… but today reminded me what matters most.

Tristan’s in the kitchen making brisket like he’s been running a smokehouse for years, we’re all hanging in the hot tub, and my 17-year-old has “Down Under” playing like he personally lived through the 90s. 😂

These are the moments I never take for granted.
The noise. The laughter. The music. The chaos. The family.

For someone who once had no place to call home, days like this still hit different. ❤️
