Thanks to the generosity of our community, over $2,000 was raised at our Joint Networking Lunch “4 A Cause” at Barking Mad Café to benefit the work of Nourish Now and the GGCC Community Foundation. A special thank you to BNI Central Maryland, M&T Bank, and Barking Mad Café, along with everyone who joined us for lunch to contribute to this cause. Thank you to all of our donors and friends who made this year a remarkable one for the GGCC Community Foundation, and the causes and nonprofit organizations that we were able to support due to your generosity! With your help - the GGCC Community Foundation - in only its 2nd full year of operations - provided over $33,000 in direct giving this year!

Every year, we recognize organizations making a meaningful impact in our community. At the Annual Gala Celebration & Awards Dinner, the Inaugural Nonprofit of the Year Award was presented to BlackRock Center for the Arts in the Small Category and Comfort Cases in the Large Category, recognized by Steve Barber of Supporting Strategies.

At the Annual Gala & Awards Dinner, we celebrated outstanding leadership and community impact. Kempes Jean of The Kempes Group Powered by Homespire Mortgage was honored with the Inaugural GGCC Community Foundation Building Bridges Award, presented by Heather Madison of Peterson Companies – Rio and Chair of the GGCC Community Foundation Board of Directors. Michele Potter of Asbury Methodist Village received the You Made a Difference Award, presented by Steve Barber of Supporting Strategies and Chair of the GGCC Board of Directors. The President’s Award was presented to Justin Volman of Volman HR Strategy by President and CEO, Paula Ross. Congratulations to all for their dedication and for making a meaningful difference in our community!

Beyond his professional achievements in business development and sales, John actively mentors local students, leads networking groups, and supports numerous community initiatives including PAC, Comfort Cases, and GGCC 4-A-Cause events. Presented by Sharon Anthony of Montgomery College, this award celebrates John’s outstanding contributions to both his profession and our community.

Small Business of the Year: Tortacos! Honored at the Annual Gala Celebration and Awards Dinner, Tortacos, founded in 2011 by the Espana family, brings L.A. style street tacos to Montgomery County. Now a Germantown neighborhood hub, they serve favorites like tacos, tortas, and burritos while supporting local schools and organizations. Congratulations to Tortacos and thank you to M&T Bank for presenting this award.
