Rahab’s Rope exists to empower women and children in the fight against human trafficking. More are being added every day.
In January of 2004, stay-at-home mom, Vicki Moore, came across an internet story about forced prostitution in India. The story detailed that approximately 200 women and girls are forced into the commercial s*x trade of India each day. Vicki dove deeper into the statistics and stories and could not believe what she found. Vicki felt the Lord's call to take action against the atrocity of human trafficking in India, and by December of 2004 the newly founded Rahab's Rope held its first Christmas celebration in Bangalore, India -- 100 women were in attendance! Less than a year after Vicki Moore stumbled upon a seemingly obscure internet article, the ministry of Rahab's Rope was born. Since that first Christmas celebration, over 1200 women have been through the Rahab's Rope women's clinics in India. This week, my thoughts kept going to the words giving and generosity. You are the reason for these thoughts.
I began searching the Bible and the internet for Scriptures, definitions, and quotes about these words. One definition I found for being generous says that it means being willing to share more of your time, money, or support than is usual or expected.
This year, you have overwhelmingly blessed us in all these areas.
We needed more funds for ministry than usual—you gave.
We needed volunteers at the warehouse—you came.
You did both generously—more than we expected—and we are so grateful!
We pray that you will be blessed for your generosity. Proverbs 22:9 says, “The generous will themselves be blessed.”
Generosity has great power. It has the ability to transform both the giver and the receiver—and only God can do that. The Bible presents generosity as a reflection of God’s character, where we freely share our time, talents, and resources, recognizing that we are stewards rather than owners.
Thank you for reflecting God’s character through your generosity.
Galatians 6:10 says, “Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people.”
Over the past several weeks, around 75 volunteers have come to our warehouse to help us. We could not have done it without you. Thank you for seeing an opportunity to do good—and then doing it!
Finally, as I continued to read about giving and generosity, I was reminded that true giving comes from a heart of love.
One of the foundational verses of our ministry is 1 John 3:18, which teaches us that love is not simply something we say—it is something we do.
You didn’t just talk about giving money—you gave.
You didn’t just talk about coming to help—you came.
You put love into action.
And that is what generosity looks like.
My prayer for you comes from Paul’s letter to the Ephesians:
“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith. And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the Lord’s holy people, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge—that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God.”
—Ephesians 3:16–19
Thank you for your generosity. Thank you for your time. Thank you for your willingness to serve. Most of all, thank you for allowing God to use your love and generosity to make a difference in the lives of others.

But; Joy comes in the morning!
Kata has been a part of the ministry of Rahab’s Rope for fifteen years. We first met her when she was just eight years old and began attending our after-school tutoring program. Kata was a bright, smart, and happy little girl.
When Kata was thirteen, a man r***d her. She was devastated, and we were deeply concerned about what would happen next. What would recovery look like for her? Would her parents allow her to continue coming to our center? Would they even allow her to remain in school?
We prayed. The girls in our life skills class surrounded Kavita with support, encouragement, and love. Rather than withdrawing in fear, we watched her draw closer to the Lord and grow in confidence.
A few years later, Kata told us she wanted to become a police officer. Because of what had happened to her, she wanted to help protect other young girls. We believed in her dream and supported her by helping with her college and police academy fees.
Kata graduated as one of the top students in her class. Today, she works in security at an airport.
Kata’s story is one of courage, perseverance, and hope. What was meant to break her did not define her future. Through her endurance, she found JOY.
Psalm 30 begins:
“I will exalt you, O Lord, for you lifted me out of the depths and did not let my enemies gloat over me. O Lord my God, I called to you for help, and you healed me. Lord, you brought me up from the grave and you spared me from going down into the pit…. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.”
We all experience difficult things in our lives. Some wounds may change us, but they do not have to define us. Kata reminds us that there can be hope beyond the pain and a future beyond what we have endured.
May we all look to the Lord in our difficult moments and trust Him to carry us through. Weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning.
