STAAR is an Executive Agency of Student Government that strives to improve all types of race relations within the University of Florida student body.

Students Taking Action Against Racism is an agency of Student Government dedicated to the improvement of race relations on the University of Florida campus. STAAR recognizes the existence of racial inequality within society and attempts to combat it through the spread of education and empathy. The vision of STAAR is strongly based on the importance of building relationships and subsequently growing to understand the perspective of fellow students. Using events and campus based initiatives, STAAR acts as a means for all students to learn about the effects of racism and become directly involved in standing against it.

February 26 from 5:30–7:30 PM at Pugh Hall will be an evening filled with food, merch, a live DJ, workshops, and more.

Hands-on workshops include crochet keychains with Hooked by Arianna, clothing upcycling with MODE UF, and reusable magnet making with Thrift Club @ UF

Come meet the vendors, get creative, and bring your friends for a evening of fun and community 💫

🌟 Applications are OPEN for STAAR’s Spring Ambassador Program! 🌟

STAAR Ambassadors play a vital role in our organization, acting as student liaisons and representing STAAR through campus tabling and outreach.

As part of this semester-long training program, ambassadors will:
✨ Participate in bi-weekly workshops focused on navigating meaningful conversations around race
✨ Volunteer at community service events
✨ Get involved in engaging programming opportunities
✨ Be paired with a mentor through the STAAR mentorship program

This is an amazing opportunity to get involved, create change, and build community at UF.

Join us next Tuesday on the Reitz North Lawn for an afternoon of meaningful service and community impact. We’re teaming up with and to bring you hands-on activities that make a difference!

🍎 Help assemble meals for those in need via Project Downtown
💌 Support kids at Camp Kesem with heartfelt messages and handmade bracelets.
🌎 Keep our campus beautiful and sustainable by cleaning litter around the Reitz Union
