Locklear & Associaties was glad to participate and help sponsor the Rural Economic Development Initiative meeting at Big Bend Technical College in Perry, Florida.

The discussions focused on critical current and upcoming dredging projects across Taylor and Dixie Counties. These coastal canals serve as vital economic roadways that directly impact and are important to the local economy.

A sincere thank you to the Florida Department of Commerce, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and Coastal Engineering for providing highly informative presentations on project funding, permitting, and ex*****on.

It was a great day in Gilchrist County for the Ribbon Cutting of the New Gilchrist County Ag Extension & IFAS Facility!

It was a pleasure for Locklear to attend this event.

The Locklear Team is proud to have contributed to this important community project by providing civil site design, FDOT drainage and driveway access permitting, Suwannee River Water Management District stormwater permitting, and construction oversight with invoice review.

The new 14,853-square-foot facility is located on 4.59 acres and includes asphalt parking, driveway connections, utilities, and a dry detention stormwater management system.

We would also like to give special recognition to our key team members on this project Lisa Baker, Marc Folsom, and Joshua Green for their hard work, dedication, and contributions to its success.

It is always rewarding to see a project move from planning and design to a completed facility that will serve the community for years to come.

Locklear & Associates is proud to congratulate Dixie County on being awarded a $75,000 Community Planning Technical Assistance (CPTA) Grant through FloridaCommerce.

This funding will allow Dixie County to digitize decades of important records and develop a searchable electronic filing system an investment that will improve efficiency and communication between County departments while helping ensure the long-term security and accessibility of critical public records.

Team Locklear was proud to prepare the successful grant application on behalf of Dixie County and to join County and State leaders at Governor Ron DeSantis’ August 27 announcement celebrating investments in Florida’s rural communities.

The CPTA Grant Program provides important resources to rural communities and Rural Areas of Opportunity throughout Florida, helping local governments improve planning, strengthen their communities, promote economic development, and prepare for the future.

At Locklear & Associates, our work goes beyond engineering. We are committed to helping the communities we serve identify opportunities, secure funding, and turn those resources into projects and improvements that make a lasting difference.

Regional Communities Receive $227,698.13 in RIVER Program Funding

Locklear & Associates is pleased to recognize the recent award of $227,698.13 through the Suwannee River Water Management District’s RIVER Program. The investments will support critical infrastructure and environmental improvement throughout the region. The focus on water quality, wastewater improvements, stormwater management, and protection of natural resources.

The funded projects include:

Dixie County — $17,698.13
Wastewater Treatment Facility Digital Upgrade
Support upgrades to improve effluent quality monitoring and assist with regulatory compliance.

Suwannee County — $60,000
Wastewater Treatment Plant Design & Engineering
Support design and engineering efforts for wastewater system improvements and nutrient reductions in coordination with the Town of Branford.

Lafayette County — $60,000
Clyde Street Stormwater Pond Improvements
Support improvements to the stormwater management system, increasing capacity, and enhancing drainage in cooperation with the Town of Mayo.

Gilchrist County — $90,000
Hart Springs Ditch Swale Project
Support the design, permitting, and construction of green infrastructure improvements intended to help protect the water quality and natural resources surrounding Hart Springs.

Total Funding Awarded: $227,698.13

The Florida League of Cities Public Service Pathways Scholarship Is Now Open

The Florida League of Cities is committed to supporting the next generation of civic leaders. This year, FLC is offering up to five $5,000 scholarships for students pursuing meaningful careers in public service and municipal government. The Public Service Pathways Scholarship is designed for Florida students who are ready to help shape stronger, more resilient communities through public sector work.

Eligibility Requirements: • Must be a Florida resident • Enrolled in an accredited bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral program through a Florida based campus (including online) • Must maintain enrollment through Fall 2026
