The Repurpose Project is a community effort, and we wouldn’t be able to make everything happen without the support of the many volunteers who give their time to see that things are organized around here!

If you’ve been up to the very front of the store, you’ve seen the candy shoppe, where we offer all sorts of odds and ends for $1-per-brown-paper-lunch-bag. All these tiny little pieces, like corks, bottle caps, medicine bottles, mardi gras beads, puzzle pieces, etc are one of the categories that we dearly love, and we know our customers do, too. Because we get so much of this material, and because it needs so finely sorted, it is too big of a task for just our full-time staff to do alone!

That’s why we’re inviting YOU to help us out with sorting the candy shop! This is a great task for an individual, but you can also bring a friend. It doesn’t call for any heavy lifting (unless you want it to!) but does require a bit of standing and walking around. Be aware that the sorting area and the store can be very warm over the summer. This is a task designed for people who enjoy organizing, who are detail oriented, and who can see the possibilities of any item, no matter how small!

Email our volunteer coordinator at [email protected] to schedule an orientation if you have never volunteered with us, or just let us know you’re interested and what days/times work best for you if we’re already acquainted! We really appreciate volunteers who are able to commit time each week, that way we can show you the ropes during your first visit and let you fly solo the next time.

If you have any questions about the Repurpose Project or the work we do, don’t hesitate to reach out to our team or stop in the store and chat with us. We’re open 10-6 Tuesday through Sunday at 1920 NE 23rd Ave, Gainesville FL!
