Our team at Project Canis is pleased to share our 2025 Annual Report! 🐾

We are incredibly grateful for our volunteers (1,840 volunteers across 2025!) who created and donated MANY toys (9,495 toys over the year!) to more than 170 animal shelters. Thank you all for turning every day items into sources of joy for cats and dogs in need.

For those who may be unfamiliar, we are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization originally started by students at the University of Florida to ensure that every shelter animal gets a toy. Many shelters struggle to get donations and are unable to provide toys, which are essential to animals' wellbeing.

You can learn more about Project Canis and ways to donate and support shelter animals at https://www.projectcanis.org/
We also offer sponsorship opportunities: https://www.projectcanis.org/sponsor.html

Thank you to our dedicated team and board, and to our donors and service partners. We are so grateful for your ongoing support. 🧡

Spring has sprung and now is a great time to volunteer with Project Canis!

Anyone can volunteer with us remotely by sending in toys you make by yourself, with family or friends, or with work colleagues! We have three toy designs: The Braid, The Plushie, and The Crunch that can be made easily with recycled materials such as old t-shirts and plastic water bottles. Making the toys is super easy and fun, and directly helps rescue and shelter animals! You can either send your toys into us so we can share them with shelters and rescues or you can donate to an organization of your choice!

To volunteer with Project Canis, all you have to do is use our easy toy-making instructions found here: https://www.projectcanis.org/volunteer.html

When animals can regulate their emotions, they’re better able to rest, engage with people, and adapt to new environments, all of which matter for long-term well-being. 💟
