A busy week of calving, and branding heifers.

We often share the victories of life on the farm - healthy calves, beautiful views, and so forth. But ranching is also filled with heartbreak.

This week, we lost one of our favorite embryo donor cows after she gave birth to this beautiful heifer. It's a reminder that life on the farm is equal parts joy and sacrifice. Every new beginning sometimes comes with an unexpected goodbye.

Today, we're grateful for the life given, and the life lost. The good, the bad, and yes, sometimes the orphaned. That's the reality of raising livestock.

Wilmer provides a little extra hydration for this new born bull to help beat the heat of this hot summer day.
