🌧️ Today’s rain was much needed and definitely helped, but we still need more!
Many lawns across Central NC remain under drought stress, and it will take several more soaking rain events for a full recovery. We’re closely monitoring conditions and adjusting our programs to help strengthen roots, reduce stress, and maximize turf health during this challenging season.
Thank you for your patience, better days are ahead for our lawns! 🌱💚

🚨 Drought Stress is Here in Central North Carolina AGAIN 🚨
If your lawn is showing signs of drought stress, mowing can do more harm than good. Cutting drought-stressed grass forces the plant to use valuable energy reserves that it needs for survival and recovery.
When grass is struggling from lack of moisture, it’s best to let it rest. Skipping a mowing can help reduce additional stress and protect the turf until conditions improve.
🌱 Don’t Stress the Grass.
✂️ No Mow.
☀️ Let Your Lawn Rest.
Patience now can help your lawn recover faster when rainfall returns.

Don’t panic—it’s likely slime mold, a harmless fungus-like organism that commonly appears during warm, wet weather. Slime mold feeds on decaying organic matter in the soil and does not damage your grass, harm pets, or create any long-term lawn issues.
While it may look alarming, it’s simply a sign that Mother Nature is doing her thing. Most slime molds will disappear on their own as conditions dry out. If desired, they can be removed by lightly brushing the grass or rinsing with a hose.
At JLM Turf, we’re always keeping an eye on your lawn so you don’t have to. If you ever notice something unusual in your turf, feel free to reach out, we’re happy to help identify it!

If your lawn is struggling this spring, you’re not alone. 🌱
NC State TurfFiles says drought, cool nights, and inconsistent temperatures have slowed warm-season turf recovery across the region.
Be patient — healthier turf days are coming. 💪

🚨 DROUGHT ALERT — RALEIGH WATER RESTRICTIONS START MONDAY 4/20 🚨
We’re in a serious drought across the Raleigh area, and the City of Raleigh will be enforcing mandatory water restrictions beginning Monday, April 20th.
If your lawn is looking stressed, brown, or dormant right now, please do NOT mow. Mowing drought-stressed turf adds additional stress to grass that is already fighting to survive, and can cause serious long-term damage.
Here’s what you need to know:
🔸 Skip the mow — Hold off on mowing until conditions improve. Your lawn needs rest, not more stress right now.
🔸 Brown isn’t dead — Most turf types go dormant during drought to protect themselves. With rain or proper irrigation, it will bounce back.
🔸 Water smart — If you’re watering, follow Raleigh’s restriction schedule and water early in the morning to reduce evaporation loss.
🔸 Questions? — We’re adjusting our application schedules around these conditions and we’re here to help. Reach out anytime.
Protecting your turf investment is what we do we’ll keep you updated as conditions change.
