Three Guys and a Blog
It's not about winning an argument. It's about being a disciple of Jesus. This is an attempt to share the truth and love of Christ by presentin

We're doing it because if Christianity is true, there really is nothing better that we can be doing. After all, spending time doing
things that have eternal consequences can't be a waste of time. However, we also know that not everyone has the time or the inclination to work this stuff out for themselves. We do, so we’re going to
share our conversations with those that are lucky enough to find u

There are a lot of ways to understand Christianity. It seems reasonable to at least take the Bible at face value, and we've established that it is at least reliable history. Therefore, we should assume that, unless we've got evidence to suggest otherwise, that the Bible describes events as they actually happened. If so, and Christians are trying to follow Christ, we should take the Bible at it's word about the kind of person Jesus was, in particular, who he claimed to be. Was he a great teacher, a revolutionary, or something more?
Who Does Jesus Think He Is? Who Does Jesus Think He Is? We started with natural revelation, looking at cosmological arguments, design arguments, and moral arguments for the existence of God. We have established that God (a powerful, intelligent, spiritual person who is not bound by time and space) exists and probably has some....

If there's something wrong with humanity, the only way we are going to know for sure is if the Creator tells us. Otherwise, we're making educated guesses at best, and we honestly don't know enough to be called properly educated. If the Creator is going to tell us what'a wrong or if we can be fixed, he's got to provide some means of making it clear that He is the one sending the message. How might He do that?
Did God Reveal Himself? So far we have determined that for empirical and philosophical reasons together, the physical universe had a beginning, and that someone, whom we call God, must have caused it, and as a result we humans have been created. We then determined that this God has to be a person due to the necessity for a...

The question of why people are the way they are sparks debate. On the one hand, we seem to have been meant to serve some greater purpose, and in our better moments show the virtues that make us think it's achievable. However, we all fall short, not just of what we hope to be, but what we know we ought to be. We're broken, and that's a hard reality to face, especially if there is no hope of being fixed. Unless that hope comes from beyond us.
People Are Messed Up I admit, that title needs a little unpacking. Maybe a lot. One of the things that has kept people talking for centuries is this idea of whether or not human being are good, evil, a blank slate, or something else. When we look at people, we often characterize them as good people, bad people, and ofte...

Nature might tell us how things are, but nature doesn't do so well at telling us how things ought to be. As moral creatures, that's critical. If we take morality seriously, we have to assume that God is real.
Is God Good? I know that sounds like something one hears in Sunday school. It’s simple. It’s almost trite. But there is a great deal that is implied by it. Most of the time when someone says that, what they are implying is that God is a good person that loves us and has our best interests at heart. While tha...

A lot of people try to avoid God because they don't want to be obligated to another person. That's why some people want the creator of the universe to be an impersonal thing, like the Force. Are there any good reasons to think an impersonal force could create the universe? Or does the Creator have to be a Person unlike any other?
Is God a Person? In the previous post, we established that due to logical argument and empirical evidence, the universe was caused to exist (we could say created) by a timeless (we could say eternal), non-physical (we could say spiritual) being with a lot of power (some would say omnipotent). While that sounds a lot...

A fundamental issue when engaging people is figuring out where they are starting from. If they don't believe that God exists, claiming that Jesus is God is a few steps too far, so to speak. So, do we have good reason to think God exists? Absolutely.
God Exists That’s a rather bold statement to start out with, but I figure there’s no sense pretending that’s not where this argument is going. But, for the sake of intellectual honesty, I am going to go with a much humbler goal, which is to show that God is a much better explanation for the existence of ...

I'm going to go ahead and post some of the things we've been doing on the website here, as a review for those that have been keeping up and as an intro to those that missed it. Feel free to comment on the website or here.
Goals, Strategies, and Tactics Nope, those are not the same thing. Goals are easy – it’s the thing you are hoping to accomplish. Win the game, defeat the enemy, make a bunch of money – all of those are goals. Strategy can be seen as having an idea of what needs to be done to achieve the goal. It’s looking at and analyzing...

It's Three Guys Thursday! Lucas, Rahul and I talk about why the necessary, spiritual, timeless, powerful creator of the universe has to be a person rather than just a force. What do you think?

It's Three Guys Thursday, but on Friday!
We've all got assumptions, so we'll just lay ours out there. Let us know if you think we missed any.
What Can We Expect From The Blog? We’re approaching this systematically. We’re not just making things up as we go along or shooting from the hip. We’ll start by establishing the existence of G

Time to have a conversation about fundamental things. We all think what we believe is true. Do we have good reasons? Some of us do, some of us don't. Sometimes those reasons are good even when we're wrong. Let's talk about what's true and how we can figure out what it is.
