The worlds first 8B, put up by Fred Nicole in 1992...
After nearly perishing on the steep drive to the crag, our hopes for this “historic classic” were set high. As we finally arrived, the entire group was in agony, gazing upon rock that can only be described as “worse than Forest Rock”. Fred Nicole must have been smoking something if he chose to project this with world class rock only 30 mins away.
Thankfully I am a grade chaser with low standards, so I managed to salvage a decent time and am pretty happy to get this done in a session. The same can not be said for , who seemed sadder after topping out the boulder than beforehand.”

“Being part of the French team is an honor. Over the years, my pride in wearing this blue jersey has only grown. It’s hard to imagine life without it and without this team, as they are a part of me. Today, I feel ready to pass the torch. Life is unique and precious, and one must have the courage to turn pages to evolve. I’m embarking on my final World Cup season. To make the most of this farewell, I aim to cherish my last competitions. I have made my choices. I will defend my title as French champion and participate in only two World Cup stages, culminating in Chamonix, at home. The tires may be worn, but the engine still roars for these final races. Therefore, let us charge forward. Best wishes to Team France for the inaugural World Cup in China.”
