Congratulations to our newest Hackberry House Council members for the 2026β2027 school year!
β€οΈπππ€
This year, we had more interest than ever before with 85 students starting the application process and 40 students completing the entire application. This is the highest number in House Council history!
Students went through a rigorous application process that included video responses, references, a creative artifact, and a signed commitment contract. We are incredibly proud of every student who challenged themselves to apply.
Congratulations to our newly selected leaders! We cannot wait to see the impact you make on our campus next year through service, school spirit, and servant leadership.

BACK-TO-BACK STATE RECOGNITION!
We are beyond proud to announce that Hackberry Elementary House Council has been named a 2025β2026 TEPSA Student Leadership Award Recipient for the SECOND year in a row! ππβ€οΈπ€
Out of schools across the state of Texas, our student leaders were recognized for their outstanding leadership, service, school spirit, and commitment to making a positive impact on our campus and community. From charity fundraisers and service projects to mentoring younger students and creating a culture of belonging through our House System, these students continue to lead with courage, kindness, and heart.
This honor reflects the dedication of our incredible House Council students, supportive families, House Leaders, staff, and the amazing culture we continue to build together at Hackberry Elementary.
We are so proud of the way our students represent the Portrait of a Lobo and show what servant leadership truly looks like every single day.
Congratulations, House Council! Your leadership is making a difference!
Happy , Hackberry Elementary families! π
βThere is truly never a dull moment in 1st grade!
Weβve rounded up some of the most hilarious, honest, and completely unfiltered things our first graders have said lately and yes, we made it into a song. πΆβοΈ
βFrom MAP testing stress ("I'm cooked!") and big Whataburger career goals, to loud tummies from too much lunch cheese and some very candid observations about our teachers' hair...our students definitely keep us on our toes and laughing every single day!
βDrop your favorite quote from the video in the comments below, or share the funniest thing your own student has said this week! π

Farewell, Roxy the Rooster! π
We have all loved having our feathered friend, Roxy, here with us at school. It has been so much fun watching him grow and learning all about him!
As Roxy gets bigger, he is turning into a full-grown rooster. As much as we love him, an elementary school just isn't the best place for a grown rooster to live. Roosters need tons of open space to scratch and peck, and they love to crow very loudly!
We want the absolute best for our feathered friend, which means that Roxy is packing his bags and moving to a wonderful rooster farm!
At his beautiful new farm home, Roxy will get to:
**Run and explore in big, open green pastures.
**Make lots of new chicken friends to play with.
**Crow as loud as he wants, whenever he wants!
We will definitely miss seeing Roxy every day, but we are so happy that he gets to go to a farm where he can do rooster things and live happily ever after.
