One of the best ways to deal with stress (or anxiety, worry, fear, etc. It has many names) is movement. Big or small. Just move.

A patient dying in our care would be one of the most horrifying experiences we could have.

This is what happend at Peace River Center Crisis Stabilization Center in Florida.

A 43-year-old individual died after exhibiting severe physical symptoms that were neglected and went unrecognized by several staff members for 19 minutes.

Registered nurse was asleep.

Automated External Defibrillator (AED) indicated dead batteries/needed replacement.

Staff had little to no training in CPR or other life saving methods.

The Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA) placed an immediate moratorium on admissions.

Even one person's death is unacceptable, and this sounds like could have been prevented with rapid care and vigilance but instead lead to a neglect in care.

What is our take on this? Although this kind of a facility is a high stress workplace and requires constant vigilance and alertness, surely we provide better care for people who go to these facilities to get help.

How is this going to affect people getting help from here on? What are we doing to prevent this from happening again?

Watch the news story in Tampa Florida, Channel 8. I may play a little part in it.

Masking or smiling depression often leads to extremely negative outcomes increases the severity of depression and leads to suicidal ideations and attempts.

It goes unnoticed, because the individual appears to be happy, functional, and productive. However, this is the way they overcompensate and hide their real internal distress.

They hide and mask their real feelings because of the societal judgment and stigma of mental health problems and seeking treatment.

Let's all work together to reduce the stigma of mental health disorders and seeking treatment.

Su***de is a real thing. And quite often a very impulsive act. Please take any indications or thoughts or statements seriously. And seek help. You can also call 911 or go to the nearest emergency room. Be rather safe than sorry.
