Happy Whistle-Pig Day Friends!
We all know is when Punxsutawney Phil, the famous groundhog, awakens from hibernation and predicts if we will see an early spring or a few more weeks of winter weather depending on if he sees his shadow or not. This year an early spring was predicted.
..but did you know that “Groundhog” is the common name of the ground squirrel formally known as Marmota Monax. That's not their only name either. Groundhogs are also referred to as a “woodchuck,” “marmot,” “land beaver,” “whistler,” and even “whistle-pig”.
Whistle-Pig is an funny name.
Hope you had a good Whistle-Pig Day today.
