So lucky

To walk away from a crash like this is a testament to one simple decision, wearing a properly worn seat belt.

A 19-year-old driver was traveling on Goldenrod Avenue north of Belmont when he drifted off the roadway and lost control. His vehicle cleared a canal before crashing into the opposite embankment, sending the car end over end.

Despite the violent rollover and mangled wreckage, the driver walked away virtually unharmed.

Seat belts save lives. Today, this young driver got a second chance because he was wearing his.

MAXIMUM ENFORCEMENT PERIOD RESULTS

In just 12 hours, CHP Fresno officers arrested 17 drivers for driving under the influence.

Let that sink in. Unfortunately, those are only the ones who got caught.

Impaired driving is 100% preventable, yet people still choose to get behind the wheel and put lives at risk.

Across CHP Central Division — encompassing approximately 18 offices from the Grapevine to Modesto, and from Sonora to Los Banos — officers arrested 83 impaired drivers during that same 12-hour period.

Every one of those arrests represents a crash, injury, or tragedy that may have been prevented.

No excuse is worth a life.

CHP Maximum Enforcement Period – Impaired Driving Enforcement

From 6 p.m. Saturday, June 20, through 6 a.m. Sunday, June 21, CHP officers across California will be out focused on removing impaired drivers from our roadways.

Impaired driving is 100% preventable.

If you’re drinking or using impairing substances, make a plan before you go. Designate a sober driver, use a rideshare, or call for a ride.

Battle of the Badges rolled into the CHP Fresno office. The Central California Blood Center stopped by for an important mission, saving lives.

Officers, professional staff, and public safety dispatchers teamed up to give the gift of life through blood donation. Every donation has the potential to help trauma patients, cancer patients, accident victims, and so many others throughout the Central Valley.

Now we challenge our community to join in and donate on behalf of their favorite badge. Friendly competition is fun, but the real win is helping save lives right here in our community.

A crash at Manning and Englehart in Reedley ended with a dramatic drive-thru.

A Toyota Corolla pulled into the path of a Honda Odyssey, sending the Corolla like a missile into an unoccupied building.

Thankfully, only complaints of pain injuries were reported.

Seatbelts and a whole lot of luck made all the difference.

Take your time at intersections. One rushed decision can change everything.

Smoldering remains of a Tesla after an early morning fiery crash on Millerton Road.

A driver reportedly fell asleep behind the wheel, drifted off the roadway, struck a tree, and overturned, leaving the vehicle fully engulfed in flames.

A State Parks employee located the driver and helped them escape by carrying her through burning grass to an arriving ambulance as flames spread around the crash scene.

Thanks to the quick actions of the State Parks employee and emergency responders, the driver was treated at the scene airlifted with major injuries.

The crash also sparked a five-acre vegetation fire before crews were able to contain it.

Falling asleep behind the wheel can be just as dangerous as driving impaired. If you’re tired, pull over. No destination is worth risking your life over.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured driver.
