You don't have to be the Lorax to join in the celebration of Arbor Day! The focus of Arbor Day is trees, and if you can't hug a tree today, you can read a book about one, either on paper (made from trees) or digitally. Happy Earth Day!!! We are all incredibly fortunate to live on this great big planet filled with all of the living creatures we love, including us humans! This holiday is a good excuse to get outside (weather-dependent) and enjoy our beautiful world! And if the weather doesn't cooperate, reading books about our amazing planet and how to keep it safe is another wonderful way to celebrate 🌏🌎🌍

We attended the Forever in Bloom event today at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital, and we were absolutely in awe of the work and heart that went into the event. Seeing members of Beau's care team was incredible, especially since we only see them online these days! Being able to introduce Beau's little sister to everyone was bittersweet and wonderful all at once. The speakers and activities and presentations meant so much to our family! Thank you to our MWPH family for continuing to care for us!

Today, many people celebrated Easter! The holiday is one of the most important to people of the Christian faith, commemorating the day Jesus Christ was resurrected (aka came back to life). However, the holiday also has a secular side, welcoming spring with rabbits, chicks, flowers, eggs, and candy! Personally, I like reading about the holiday while munching on chocolate 😋 We hope everyone who celebrates had a lovely day today ✝️

Today is the fabulous and fun holiday called Holi, where people of the Hindu faith celebrate the triumph of good over evil and their deities Radha and Krishna. The celebration is famous for its use of colorful powders that people throw all over each other! Check out one of these greats books to learn more 🕉

Chag Purim Sameach! Tonight marks the beginning of Purim, a fun-filled holiday where observant Jewish people dress up in costume, eat yummy treats like hamantaschen, and giving gifts of money to those in need. Want to learn more? Check out of some of these great books ✡️

Because 2026 seems to be giving everyone a reason to celebrate, today is the Catholic-Christian holiday of Ash Wednesday! It marks the beginning of Lent, wherein observant Catholics demonstrate their faith by giving up something they enjoy for 40 days. Ramadan Mubarak! Today is the first fasting day of Ramadan, the holy month wherein observant Muslims fast (eat and drink nothing) from sunrise to sundown every day. Fasting is one of the five pillars of Islam, and people who observe Ramadan use the fast as a way to demonstrate their faith and focus on service to others. Today the world is celebrating the Lunar New Year! While it is primarily associated with China, countries across the Asian diaspora enjoy this fun holiday. This year is the Year of the Fire Horse, so children born during the Lunar Year of 2026 can be expected to be assertive, independent, and creative. Today is President's Day! Well, technically, the holiday was created to commemorate the birthday of the USA's first President, George Washington. However, it is now celebrated as a holiday recognizing all U.S. presidents! It's a perfect day to read a great book about past presidents, the White House, or any subject having to do with the Executive Branch of the U.S. government 🇺🇸

Happy Valentine's Day! We spent our day enjoying sweet treats from our favorite bakery, Stone Werks, and enjoying story time & crafts at Boonsboro Free Library, A Branch of the Washington County Free Library! How did you spend your Valentine's Day? We hope you enjoyed it with your loved ones, too ❤️
