Stream-Link Education
Planting trees next to streams. Volunteer with us! Stream-Link plants trees on streams for many reasons.
A healthy riparian zone benefits a stream in many ways, including the following:
1. Placing a riparian zone between a pollution source and a stream can greatly improve the quality of the water in the stream. Acting as a filter, the trees remove the sediment and pollutants that flow from surface and subsurface runoff.
2. Dense vegetation of native plants along the side of a stream supplies shad

Hello Stream Link friends! It's that time of year again...our hibernation is just about over and we've got exciting news for 2025! It's starting to feel like Spring and we are gearing up to get back to work planting trees very soon.
We've heard from LOTS of you and are so excited to share our Spring planting schedule with you but first we have some updates to announce!
Last Fall we lead an exciting event where we installed native plants in Baker Park! This park is a special place for Frederick locals and we were pleased with a large turnout to plant some native grasses, trees, and shrubs. If you're nearby go check out the newly installed sign on the corner of College Avenue and Carroll Parkway. We are very proud ๐
If you've volunteered with SLE over the past couple years you met Kylie, a fierce advocate for the planet and someone willing to do whatever it takes to bring about positive change. Kylie has moved on to continue her climate focused work with another great local organization, Mobilize Frederick Education Group. We are so excited to be working with Kylie in a different capacity, to continue the greening of Frederick County.
We are happy to bring Simon Arendt on board as our new Program Director and he will be leading the tree planting efforts in 2025! Simon has worked with other local businesses and organizations including SilvoCulture: Nuts for the Future and The Trail House. It will be another great year of tree planting, so please join us and say hello to Simon at the next event!
Don't worry...you'll hear from us again VERY soon with a chance to start signing up for our Spring 2025 tree planting events. Keep up the great work out there and we'll see you in the field soon!
