A few years back I hosted one of my first sales meetings at my previous job. Boy did I make a ton of mistakes. I was certainly not an expert on the subject - DevOps - but I had a huge corporate deck with a bunch of talking points and products to sell. I bought lunch to convince people to stick around. It went on for about 3 hours! No business came from this meeting and I think I actually put one or two folks to sleep. What did I learn?
✅ Always stick to the point, not necessarily the script
✅ If they look bored chances are they’re bored
✅ Know your topic inside and out
✅ The rule of three is the golden rule. If you can condense your topic to three salient points you’ll win the day.
