So true!

Window vs. Mirror 12/16/2020

When applying for a new opportunity, try being yourself! Check out our new post on authentic communication.

Window vs. Mirror When I taught children’s music, the number-one cringe-causing comment I would hear from parents was, “Plug your ears. He can’t sing.” I’d want to scream out (most un-musically): “Hey parent, you’re missing the point!” “Mommy & Me” classes were not about performance. They were abo...

Hopeful words for times like these by poet Carl Sandburg. This excerpt is from "The People, Yes," written during the Great Depression:

"Man is a long time coming.
Man will yet win.
Brother may yet line up with brother:

This old anvil laughs at many broken hammers.
There are men who can’t be bought.
The fireborn are at home in fire.
The stars make no noise.
You can’t hinder the wind from blowing.
Time is a great teacher.
Who can live without hope?

In the darkness, with a great bundle of grief
the people march.
In the night, and overhead a shovel of stars
for keeps, the people march:
'Where to? What next?'"

So much balm in the word jars of great books! Read and get better...and better....

First, Ask Questions 10/22/2020

First post is up - check it out!

First, Ask Questions It was 39 years ago, in Journalism 101 class, that I learned the importance of asking questions. “It’s a tool called ‘the 5 w’s and the h,’” said Mr. Moses, a no-nonsense character and the best "J-School" teacher I ever had.
