Guiding Paths Counseling

I am offering consultations to people that are in need of guidance for themselves or for their loved one who is suffering from a mental health disorder or an addiction. This would be a one-time meeting where you will have the opportunity to ask questions, discuss treatment options, receive referrals, etc. This is not covered under insurance plans since this service is primarily offered to friends and family seeking support and direction for their loved one. “If you do too much for your kids, you’re building your self-esteem by stealing theirs!” I cannot emphasize this enough. Parents do too much for their kids because they may fear their child will fail at something or the parents want to feel like a they are being a good parent and, in turn, that decreases the parents’ anxiety. Not only are parents stealing their child’s self-esteem but they’re robbing them of their ability to grow into an independent adult. Give your child the ability to fail and then learn how to pick themselves back up. The feeling of uncomfortability will only promote change and growth!
