Since it's Road Safety Week of National Safety Month, here are 6 stand-alone turn-key Traffic Pro Bed products/options to instantly improve work zone safety for your employees. We consider all of our products and options to be safety products, but these are the 6 that stand out as individual stand-alone solutions for increasing safety.

Employee Safety Unit (ESU)
The Employee Safety Unit (ESU) is a stand-alone safety solution designed to keep workers protected during traffic control operations. Positioned behind the cab for optimal communication and visibility, the ESU features an enclosed design, impact-resistant construction, safety padding, and integrated fall protection features that help maximize worker safety before they are exposed to roadway hazards.

Safety Restraint System
In conjunction with the ESU, the OSHA-compliant Safety Restraint System provides workers with a secure, seatbelt-based connection point while still allowing the mobility needed to safely deploy and retrieve cones. Reducing fall or ejection risk and keeping personnel securely positioned within the ESU.

Halo Perimeter Lighting
The Halo Light system projects a visible perimeter around the truck, creating a clear visual buffer between workers and passing traffic. By discouraging motorists from driving too close, highlighting that the vehicle is active and occupied, and improving nighttime visibility, Halo Lighting helps crews work more safely and confidently after dark.

iCone
iCone's connected work zone system broadcasts real-time work zone and device locations to navigation platforms and partner organizations. With the push of a button, crews can increase work zone visibility for motorists, helping drivers receive advanced warnings before they actually reach the work zone.

Last Line of Defense
The Last Line of Defense combines a truck-mounted attenuator (TMA) designed solely to provide an additional protective barrier between workers and errant motorists. While it is not a substitute for a designated crash truck, it serves as a critical final layer of protection capable of absorbing collision energy and helping prevent severe injuries when work zone intrusions occur.

VMS / Arrow Board
Traffic Pro Bed's VMS and Arrow Board options provide highly visible, warning messaging that helps direct traffic safely around active work zones. Multiple mounting configurations maximize visibility while keeping the equipment out of the way, making it a turnkey solution for improving driver awareness and reducing intrusion risks.

"Why are we installing so many TMAs?" As we've shared more builds equipped with the Last Line of Defense (TMA), many people have asked about the trucks they're mounted to and the role they play in roadway safety.

The answer is right in the name: Last Line of Defense. With the exception of the newly released FRB, which is designed as a first-response blocker vehicle, these trucks are intended to serve as the final protective barrier between motorists and workers in active work zones. Here's what that means—and just as importantly, what it doesn't.

What these trucks are:
These trucks are meant as the Last Line of Defense in a work zone, when traditional TMA trucks don't stop a work zone intrusion.
These trucks use truck-mounted attenuators.
These trucks are intended to increase safety in a work zone.
These trucks are another layer of protection for your traffic employees.
These trucks save lives.

What these trucks are not:
These trucks are not to be used in the same way as traditional TMA trucks.
These trucks are not intented to satisfy bid requirements for traditional, non-loaded TMA trucks.
These trucks are not to be used in place of a traditional TMA trucks.

It's National Safety Month! For this week of National Safety Month, the National Safety Council is highlighting road safety! Swipe for some helpful safety tips on how to keep yourself and your friends and family safe and sound on the many miles ahead.

For those of us in the road safety, traffic control, and construction industries, it's no surprise that road safety and employee safety are two of the four dedicated focus weeks during National Safety Month. Every day, roadway workers, traffic control crews, emergency responders, and public works personnel face hazards that most drivers never see from behind the wheel.

That reality becomes even more important as we enter the "100 Deadliest Days" of summer driving—a period historically associated with increased traffic volumes, distracted driving, speeding, and serious crashes. The risks aren't just statistics; they're the daily working conditions for the men and women who build, maintain, and protect our nation's roads.

As a solutions provider dedicated to improving safety in roadway work zones and traffic control operations, these aren't just topics we support—they're our industry. We work alongside organizations whose employees spend their days just feet away from moving traffic, often relying on drivers to make safe decisions behind the wheel.

That's why road safety starts with all of us. Slow down in work zones. Eliminate distractions. Move over when you see roadside workers and emergency vehicles. Stay alert, follow posted signage, and give crews the space they need to do their jobs safely.

The safest work zone is one where every worker and driver gets home at the end of the day.

🚨New First Responder Video! 🚨 What happens when you combine four essential response vehicles into one?

The answer is the First Responder.

Developed to address the growing dangers responders face on today's roadways, the First Responder combines the crash protection of a TMA truck, the organized functionality of a Traffic Pro Bed, the authority of an EMS vehicle, and the flexibility of an IMAP truck into a single apparatus designed specifically for incident response.

With a crash-rated attenuator, extensive equipment storage, safe-side accessibility, traffic control capabilities, scene lighting, and room for the tools responders need most, the First Responder helps agencies do more with a single vehicle while enhancing safety for personnel on scene.

Whether responding to crashes, disabled vehicles, roadway hazards, or emergency incidents, the First Responder is built to help crews operate safer, faster, and more efficiently.

Watch our new in-depth video to see it for yourself.

From delivered to delivering on Traffic Pro Beds' Built to Save system for Incident Response employees just 45 minutes later! Plus more news regarding another recent delivery and a surprise announcement!

Justin, with the I-66 Expressway, picked up the first of their fleet of First Responder trucks to take it back down to their HQ when he decided to respond to an incident immediately after getting the truck back to Virginia. The operation went on without a hitch as the First Responder protected a stranded driver and the IMAP employee on the scene.

We also delivered one of our more unique Traffic Pro Bed builds to the City of Greeley, Colorado who wanted to bolster their cone and sign operations! This build is a standard half stake Traffic Pro Bed with Cone drive, Halo Perimeter lighting, Fold-Down aluminum fencing, headboard-mounted signage unit, New 15 stand box, Last Line of Defense, TrafFix Scorpion TL-3 attenuator, rear-mounted rising VMS board, and iCone advanced warning system.

And the excitement doesn't end there! Mark your calendars, we are posting our first fully comprehensive video on the First Responder Truck TOMORROW! Stay tooned.

🚨 Introducing Traffic Pro Bed’s Halo-Light System — designed to enhance visibility, awareness, and safety around a cone truck like never before. By projecting a perimeter approximately 240 degrees around the back of the truck, the halo-light helps create a safer and more controlled environment for crews working nighttime operations along roads and highways. 🌟

One of the most valuable advantages of the halo-light is its ability to deter motorists from getting too close to active MOT trucks. The illuminated perimeter encourages move-over behavior and creates a much more visible presence on the roadway, helping drivers recognize the work zone sooner and maintain a safer distance from workers and equipment.

The system also helps establish a visible “personal space” buffer around the truck, increasing operator safety and improving overall work zone awareness. In addition, the lighting clearly highlights that the truck is active and manned, giving approaching motorists an immediate visual cue that crews are actively working nearby to keep roads safe and traffic moving.

From a distance, the light visually communicates movement and direction, helping drivers better recognize activity ahead and respond more proactively. The illuminated perimeter also helps define a clear walkway for employees entering and exiting the truck bed, improving visibility around the vehicle during nighttime and low-light operations.

It even assists crews during cone deployment and retrieval by helping maintain better cone alignment throughout the process, adding another layer of operational efficiency during setup and breakdown.

When every second and every foot of visibility matters, Traffic Pro Bed’s Halo-Light System helps crews stay safer, more visible, and more protected on the roadway — because protecting the people working behind the truck matters just as much as the work being done ahead of it. 🚧

It's so tragic. It's so devastating. We are so saddened to hear of so many recent work zone fatalities that have occurred in just the last four weeks. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families. On behalf of our industry, we are so sorry for your loss.

Just over a month ago, we wrapped up the biggest work zone safety awareness campaign nationwide, and already there have been at least 9 reported work zone fatalities and even more injuries. This is a grim reminder that we as an industry 1️⃣ need to do better for the safety of our people, 2️⃣ that protection in a work zone is an absolute must, and 3️⃣ that advocacy for our personnel's safety is a year-round job.
