I made a detour today to visit Apples Church, founded by my 7x great grandfather Johan Peter Apple (Appel) in 1760. His wife, Catherine, was the youngest daughter of Reverend Anthony Jacob Henckel, founder of the first Lutheran Church in the United States in Germantown, PA.

I thought I was leaving my PA Dutch heritage by moving to Maryland, so I’m very happy to have found this connection here ❤️


A few tiny ♥️🎄

I was doubtful of my ability to blend my client’s wishlist (waves, palm trees, peacocks, and representations of PA and FL) into a cohesive design, but I couldn’t be happier with this piece!

Created for a PA Dutch family relocating to Florida, this variation of Zook’s ‘Double Eagle’ includes palm branches, waves, and a central heart with the state flowers of PA (mountain laurel) and FL (orange blossom).

I created this triple-star variation to watch over the well-loved critters inhabiting a NY farm, several of which are represented in the center of the design. They are surrounded by a favorite Chamberlain quote that you may remember from a past hex sign. Look closely to see the tiny oak leaves in the border.
