Did you know a carpenter helped champion Labor Day? 💙

I certainly didn't. While doing a little reading this weekend, I learned that back in 1882, Peter J. McGuire, a carpenter and labor leader, helped advocate for a day of rest for those "who from rude nature have delved and carved all the grandeur we behold."

As someone who gets to work alongside talented craftspeople every day, that quote gave me goosebumps. More than 140 years later, it's still a beautiful reminder that behind every finished project are people who solve problems, sweat the details, and care deeply about their craft. ✨

Today, we're grateful for our employees, our trade partners, and everyone whose work often happens behind the scenes but leaves a lasting impact on the homes and lives of others. It's pretty special, and something all of us at JM are proud of.

One of our favorite parts of the design process is learning how each family lives and creating solutions around their everyday routines.
 
For this Sherborn family, that meant incorporating dedicated dog food storage right into the kitchen island for a whole crew of very pampered four-legged family members. Alongside a beverage fridge and plenty of additional storage, this thoughtful detail makes feeding time easier while keeping everything neatly tucked away.

We’re back in Sherborn, MA! We recently wrapped up a custom walk-in closet, and now we’re in the pre-construction phase for this family's kitchen remodel. Demo starts next week. Meanwhile, we are happy to report this ensuite (Fun fact: It was 1 of 3 bathrooms we remodeled for this client last summer) is still looking cool and minty fresh! 🍃✨
