Pathways - Guiding Bright Futures

We have decided to embark on a new journey in Mumbai, with the aim to empower young people who have grown up in orphanages to thrive in society. This new project is called Pathways. We come alongside of young adults transitioning out of orphanages, and guide them towards bright futures. We would love to have your support! We have 1076 of you following us on Facebook and we are grateful to each one of you. Your continued support has helped us put smiles on many faces of children and young adults’ and boost the morale of many caregivers in care homes. We post pictures and videos so that you too can see their dear faces. I am writing to tell you how wonderful it is to see them smile and how thankful we are for your contributions that have made it happen!!

As someone said “If you do not create change, change will create you.” We are going into a new season and Kites Global Nashik will function as the Lighthouse Project from April 2017 under Interserve India. With Interserve providing administration and structural support the team would be free to work more hands on with the children, young adults and the caregivers across India.

There are many children and young adults that need our services of Life Skill Lessons, Individual and Group Therapy and Future Preparedness; these would help them gain emotional stability and be prepared for an independent life once they graduate from the care home. We will continue to provide Training, Group Therapy and Mentoring to the caregivers to increase their caring skills. These services bring so much joy to the children and equip the caregivers to be effective carers.

Every heart 💖 is carrying pain and sorrows from diffetent situations and circumstances of life but we need to learn to move on......this is expressed by one of the caregivers in a home in Mumbai.

Understanding the grieving process and learning to heal through Grief and Loss group therapy. "Coping with the loss of my mother is one of lifes biggest challange. I experience all kinds of difficult and unexpected emotions, from shock or anger to disbelief, guilt and profound sadness"........shared one if the caregiver.

Term ends........ as the girls will now be appearing for their final exams and proceed for a long break home to spend time with their families. We are going to miss them until we see them and begin our next sessions in June.

Girls are working on their "Protective Shield" worksheet writing down qualities that will protect their self esteem.

Lifeskill session on "Things that hurt our Self-Esteem". The aim of this lesson is to identify the reasons for low self-esteem and to develop protective skills agaist harmful words and actions.

Successful teamwork is the cornerstone for creating functioning, contributing teams.The team creates an environment in which people are comfortable taking reasonable risks in communicating, advocating positions, and taking action. Team members trust each other.
